I'm not normally one to complain, but I'm on my back in a hospital bed as I type this.

I woke up Tuesday night with incredible knee pain and a 105f fever. Seems I have bursitis caused by a bacterial infection that has now gone into my bloodstream. They are pumping me full of antibiotics and running cultures to see if it is a super-bug... Which would be "complicated" as they put it. Being the sole income provider for the family doesn't help things.

Makes me wish I had looked more into insurance.

I'm heavily sedated and venting... Thank goodness for auto-correct!

You are in our thoughts. I hope that things work out and you get better soon.

Wow, Rick I hope it is not a super bug and it is not Osteomyelitis. I developed Osteo after getting injured badly and ended up on IV antibiotics for 16 weeks. The bugs infecting my leg were resistant to everything except Vancomycin and were even starting to smarten up to it.
I hope you make a full recovery and the bug is just a run of the mill Strep or Staph critter. Some of the new bugs are scary as hell, I just read a story about a Maine teenager who died of a super bug infection after having a wisdom tooth pulled.

I will say some prayers for you!!

Rick,
Take it easy and do exactly what they tell you to in the hospital and out! Down to how much water to drink. An infection in your bloodstream is no simple matter. Rest up and know that we are sending smoke and prayers your way!

Get well soon, Buddy. It was nice seeing you at Blade again this year. Take care and do what Laurence said.

Rick,

Hey Man, I kind of figured you had been hijacked by something or someone since I had not heard from you since before Blade.

Sending healing smoke from the forge; take good care my friend.

Fred

Had a hell of a night. Sweat soaked the sheets three times. This morning the inflamation line on my leg receded half an inch! You guys are good:cool:

Damn, Rick, when you get hit you take a hard hit. My prayers will be added for your quick recovery.

Rick, get well damn it!! May sound selfish, but we need your humor and talent! Very sorry you're going through this, but I hope the "tempering" only makes you stronger. I'm the proud owner of one of your knives - Strength and prayers to you and your family.
Elliot

This place needs you so you're just going to have to recover quickly for our sakes ;)
Look after yourself. And keep us posted.

On a good note, what better way to spend a few days then relaxing with a group of good looking nurses looking after you ;0)

get better soon

Thank goodness it isn't the superbug. That can be really messy to deal with. My thoughts are with you and your family. Follow the medical advice to a T. If the antibiotics can't do their job properly, you create a whole mess of difficult problems to solve. Resistance to treatment is becoming more and more serious. All of the antibacterial crap should be pulled from the market. It's making things worse.

They disconnected me from the monitor leads and IV machine today. I still have the damn stint(?) thingy in my arm but only need it for the antibiotics and occasional pain meds. I won't miss having to drag around several IV bags and a microwave sized vitals monitor every time I need to "stock the pond"...lol... Too much info?:p

Just as quickly as things go south, they can turn back north.... Or northeast, in my case. Might actually get to go home in a few days at this rate.

Thanks for the support, guys... It sure means a lot to me:thumbup:
