out of the 5 brands....

My top brands that do it for me are

Benchmade, Spyderco, Kershaw, Emerson.

All great brands, I like benchmade and its huge variety of folders. Spyderco has a great variety as well but blade shapes seem to all look similar, i still love them. Kershaw has been some great user knives for me, along with Emerson.

I'm going to go against the flow here. Overall rating (budget included) for me goes

1) Cold Steel
2) Benchmade
3) Spyderco
4) Buck

not mentioned: Kershaw (I have owned several of their "best" ones including 2 ZT's, Leek, JYD, Blur, Storm, and sold them all, because they just didn't do it for me. Well priced and good construction, just not my thing)

You can call me a CS fanboy if you want, but I'm really not. I would be happy to talk about which of their products are terrible and what I don't like about them. I started out badmouthing them along with others on this board before I even owned one. Since I had one in my hand the first time (Recon 1 2010), I have been a convert. They do an excellent job HTing their AUS8. A few of their products are way overpriced (like the Espada) but most of them are no-nonsense products that work hard and don't break the bank. YMMV.
