Which do people find the best for use/best deal et cetera???

I like the looks of the Kukri, the Bolo and the Double Edge... also the heavy doesn't look bad. I'm looking for something that can hack through some pretty thick bush.

Any help is appreciated

I've owned/used the two-handed heavy, the panga, and the kukri style. Honestly, the only one I like is the two-handed model, and that's only b/c I find it good for work around the yard due to the long reach.

If you aren't necessarily set on the Cold Steel, I'd recommend a Tramontina over any of the CS machetes. If you want to pick up a CS, then I'd go with the two-handed model.

i just purchased the full size barong and a 12" sax. i haven't got to use them yet but i like the balance of them compared to my tramontina bolo

I have a cold steel kukri, not bad for the money, handle is uncomfortable, but a decent tool. I'll take a tramontina myself, and save a couple dollars :D

I think Feebay or Smoky Mountain Knife Works would be good places to pick one up.

I used to have the CS kukri but sold it. The grip on the handle was very ruff and cut into my hands and the handle size/shape didn't work very well. I would recomend getting a different brand.

I had the 24" Latin machete but ended up cutting it down to 18". I prefer the Ontario line of machetes more myself however I have boycotted them because of their dealings with Jeff Randell. You should be aware that no matter what machete you do end up with you will need to sharpen it, most of the machetes I have came with a 45 degree bevel on them.

The 2 handed is a good brush clearing tool. It would be the one I'd recommend. My brother has one and I borrowed it a couple times to hack stuff in the backyard at my parents place.

While I prefer the lighter Tramontinas for most work, I cannot fault the CS machetes. The Panga is great for heavy chopping of palmetto roots and such. I put a wicked convex edge on my Bowie machete. The steel seems to be tough enough, yet holds an edge better than the Trams.
