Out Of The Wild:The Alaska Experiment

Looks interesting. Unfortunately, it comes on way past my bed time (I get up at 4:30), so I'll have to wait for the re-runs at an earlier time.

My buddy made the next to last cut for this show. From watching the promos I think he is happy he didn't make it :D

In last season's episodes, they used Gerber Big Rock Camp knives. Wonder what they will use this season?

I'll have to set my DVR for a season's worth of recording!

Here's the airing schedule, in Central Time, so adjust for your local.

First Airing:
Tuesday 9pm

Re-Air:
Wednesday 12am
Saturday 10am

I was wondering if it was starting this week since it is Alaska week again on Discovery.

Need to set the DVR!

To be honest, I never could really get into this show. I will try again. Maybe I am just not seeing it for what it is, or maybe I am just not meant to watch it.

I think they are using a different format this time, one group with no shelters and they have to hike back out.

If you were going to make a trip like this to Alaska....wouldn't you practice making fire?

Somehow, I'm thinking that the Discovery Channel is stacking the "subjects" in this "experiment".

With idiots.

Surely there were people who volunteered with far more knowledge and experience than the 9 people they chose. All in the name of Good Television.

10 minutes in, and already I'm shaking my head. 17 minutes in and some fool is trying to start a fire with a striker...by rubbing the edge of his pocket knife across it. I think it's hilarious that apart from the 8 other idiots, the only one that seems to have any clue is the 46 year old woman that looks the most weak and frail (she seems pretty knowledgeable and experienced actually). She can shoot, she can start a fire, and she knows not overload herself with useless crap. She'll probably be the only reason the 8 others survive at all.

I'm no survival expert myself; I've hardly ever even been out camping. But I've got a brain, I can keep a knife sharp, and I can start a fire. It seems like I've already got a leg up on 8 of those fools.

I never finished the last season. I got sick of all the drama between the idiot dad and her overbearing, dramaqueen daughters. I was rootin' for the bears (bears gotta eat too).

I feel sorry for the cameramen. Hopefully their survival doesn't depend on the "cast".

Nevermind.

I watched it.. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking.. The colors looked almost fake. Kinda like color change in the San Juan range in Colorado but 10 times that.. Wow unreal beauty, but very rough living. Kinda lame the old gal getting bent and leaving because she didnt get her 1/9th share of a frikkin mouse though..

"Life After People" seems interesting, and a new Planet Earth is coming out.

I think, if these people were left alone, Alaska would soon have 9 less people, and it would be a better show. ;)

We could all learn form their mistakes as they died.

That's good TV!
