Well, the time draws near. A lot of you all may remember my post this last summer...the one where I found out that I need a hip replacement. I can't avoid it any longer and the surgery is set for Thursday afternoon.

I will be out of pocket for a while and will really miss checking in on the Cantina. It has become a daily habit. I'll be in the hospital for 5 to 7 days if everything goes without a hitch. After that it's two months of rehab. Hopefully I'll be able to sit in front of the computer, at least for a little while, after a couple of weeks.

I'm glad to see so many new people checking in and discovering these great blades. I have learned a bunch in the short time that I've been here and I enjoy watching the learning process take place in others.

This is a good crew.

Will be keeping you in mind, prayer-wise. I bet you'll be moving around like "Lord of the Dance" by Christmas!

Don't worry Ben, I'll keep you in the loop if anything really big happens--via snail mail if necessary. Of course, I'll have to remain slightly vague so that you have incentive to work hard on healing so you can get back here.

All the d*** smoke around here lately is making me hack and cough. But there'll be plenty for you if I have to turn on a fan to be able to breathe. Got some going up right now.

Ben?

Send a cashier's check to Bruise. He will snap up bargains for you.:)

Ben, good luck and God bless. We will miss you.

Hey, why don't you look into getting a used Laptop or putting the computer near your bed/recovory spot? That way you could surf while you rest. I've done it a couple of times when I was sick in bed. Worked out pretty good for me.

Hang tough Ben, and try not to giggle when them nurses give you your pre-op shave. Look forward to hearing from you when you're back in the saddle.

Good luck Ben,

Everything will go well. I have it on good authority! Will be looking forward to your first post when you come back. Take care my friend.

Steve

Ben the very best of luck to you and may your recovery be as pain free as possible!!!!
From what I've heard and researched this is supposed to be one of the most successful bone surgeries. I hope and pray that yours is as successful as the few I know of personally that people I know have had.:D

Yep Yvsa, this is one of those ones not to worrya bout. My dad had his coming up on one year ago, and wasn't an easy one, as the accident that required the surgery was I think at least 20 years in past, they had lots of scar tissue in there to deal with. It still went off without a hitch and he's walking much easier now.

Besides that, spent three days(think it was only that long, though memory's fuzzy) in hospital surrounded by one of the cutest batches of nurses I've seen this side of a tv screen. SOme guys have all the luck. ;)

For what it's worth I have a girlfriend who had this surgery and her golf game is as good as ever, the recovery was fast and everything works just fine. Everything

Best.
Prayers.
You'll be scratching your ear with your little toe in no time.

Best of luck, Ben. And if they need any extra pins, I've got this special Bilton...
