My buddy, fellow forum member SatsumaTengu has been interested in outdoor suvival stuff for a while now but I've recently got him hooked on that addictive drug called KNIVES, he currently has a Swamprat on order so there is no hope for him now !

Anyway we went out today and I showed him one of my favourite hiking spots, here is ST taking a pic of the scenery~

The girls love it here as well !

Wasn't long before Maisy was soaking wet !!!

ST has a Hudson bay tinder kit with the magnifyer in the lid so we decided to try and get a fire going using that along with some Tinder fungus we found ~

While he worked on the Tinder fungus I went and found some dry Cedar shavings as secondary tinder~

A little blowing ~

And we had flame !

On the trail back we came across this pretty fresh looking deers leg, ST wanted me to bring my Tracker for him to try so I put it in the pic for a size comparison. Not sure if this was Cougar prey or Wolves ?

And a final pic of ST trying out the Tracker ~

Ah...the pusher man. :D How'd he like the tracker?

I think he quite liked it, hopefully he will comment in this thread at some point. The thing about the Tracker is that it does take a bit of getting used to in order to get the maximum benefit from the thing. Heck they even come with an instruction book !!!!!

Did you ever get the SAK to light a fire with it's magnifying glass? I am surprised that tinder kit lens worked for you. Great pics btw, thanks for posting.

Those pictures sure make me wonder why I live in a big city. Love the tidal pool pics!

Yes buddy, I've made a few using the SAK lens and tinder fungus now !

Thanks for posting the photos, Pitdog, great fun today! I always enjoy the opportunity to tag along with you and the girls on a hike. If my computer skills were anywhere near basic I guess I could have posted some on here, unfortunately me and computers don't get along too well, LOL. I did manage to get a few of the shots I took of pitdog working with his Tops knife, doing some chopping and making a feather stick that I finally did figure out how to post on his facebook page but that wore me out, haha. That is one cool blade though, at first I wasn't too sure how to use it, some odd angles on it, but once you start playing with it a bit you start to see that it has a practical side to it and is not just flash. Pitdog does a great job of keeping his blades wicked sharp too and that helps I think. My swamprat is a knife I have on order now, it is a rodent 4 and I just got notified from the company that they are starting to open up on some customization, I asked for my blade in green with green scales instead of the standard black blade. looking forward to seeing how that turns out. my new mission is to figure out how to post pictures, so once I have the new knife in hand I will post some shots of it and show how she works. Thanks guys, love the site here.

This was a pic of me that ST took, I was demonstrating how the saw back on the Tracker can be used for making clean notches ~

Great pics. Hanging out, playing with knives, it doesn't get much better!

Great clean notch there, I am more and more impressed with this one. Looks like one to have.
Thanks Satsuma Tengu I like the Tracker. Our friend Pitdog got me to wanting one and then Bryan Breeden worked on the edge for me and now it
is a cutting chopping son of a gun.
