Out with the Kabar Cutlass today..

For $40, it is a great blade. That deep belly really does bite in deep. I like the weight, the grind only starts about 1" from the edge, hollow ground.
I also have the Kukri, it's a bit longer, heavier, and mine came razor sharp. They both perform quite well for the price.
I own the Ontario Kukri as well, and although it's 1/4" thick, that's only at the spine. The full flat grind, and shorter height makes it pretty light. It's okay for cutting softer materials, but those Ka-Bars both cut deeper, for less money.

I have the cutlass and the kukri as well, I found the kuk cut better, but not as versatile for other tasks. The cutlass has a very generous sweet spot, and the balance feels good. No problems with the kraton handle either, good grip and just enough "give" to be a little cushy.
