or, Hallelujah, I got rid of that piece of junk! My old bandsaw, that is.

Here's my new one:

It's all I've ever wanted in a woodcutting bandsaw. The rip fence was not square with the table, but a little filing fixed it, and that was about the only thing wrong with it when it came.

I was going to share pics of my old one, but accidentally deleted the photos from my website. Suffice it to say, this one is much better. :D

I just love getting packages, and this one was big:

If any of you are thinking of getting a bandsaw, I definitely recommend this one.

Nice saw,Phillip. I have the exact same one. Takes a 99" blade? Only problem is Sears is about the only place to buy blades. I've cut 12"+ hard maple without a problem.

Hope you have a dust collector!!:D

Thats a beauty, Phillip! I'd trade my 30 year old Craftsman for that puppy.

Enjoy, Fred

Mr Patton, looks like you will be having fun with that. I am so looking for a new bandsaw. Is it 1 1/2HP? I have been beating on my benchtop saw cutting 154CPM, it begs for mercy! If the blades are an oddball size, you can always get custom blades made for not too expensive.

I bought the 14" Delta over the Craftsman just because of the blade length.

Glad you enjoy your saw! I love mine.

Alex

I got the same model last year when it first came out....Sears did not have replacement blades for that specific length, so the manager knocked off a hundred additional bucks if I would take it! Which I did....I used the blade in the package for about a month until I tried to cut some carbon fiber handle material and ate the blade right up to nuthin'. Fortunately, the Sears store had just gotten some blades in.

My only complaint is the rip fence can be a bugger to get situated in the grove along the table.....also, watch out for the plastic circular blade insert thingy on the table...it is fragile and you will eventually chip it. I need to go back to Sears and order a replacement. Otherwise....very good saw.

Enjoy,

Hank Hammond

Yes, it does use the 99" blade. I don't mind getting them from Sears. The blades are reasonably priced, compared to some places...

Including shipping and 3 extra blades, $610.

It's just 1 HP. Seems to be enough, though. This saw is not for metal.
They say you can use it for some nonferrous metals on the slow speed, but I'll just be using it for handle materials.

After using it some, I'm already tired of the insert. It's not flush with the table, so the workpiece gets hung up on it. I'll probably make a new one out of micarta.

Yep...the insert was not level with my table as well....I think I will follow your lead and make one out of micarta as well...good idea.

FYI: do a google search on 99" (technically 99 1/2" aint it?) bandsaw blades and you will find a few places other than Sears that DO sell 'em.

Mine was on sale at sears for $479 and I ended up paying $379 for it because of the lack of blades previously discussed!

Still a great bandsaw.

I agree with the insert issue!! I made one out of aluminum for my old saw, will do the same for this one. I've checked the net for blades, just as easy to run to Sears for now. My fear is the day I go in and they say "OH no,sir.....we don't stock THOSE anymore!!".

I have one that looks similar - but my stand is justa stand, not a cabinet.
I welded 2 rigid rollers to 2 legs of the stand and this way I can wheel the
thing around by just tilting it a bit to engage the wheels.

The stock motor wuz crap, @ "3/4" of "Sears" HP. I replaced it with true
1HP motor from HarborFreight ($70-something) and it sings ever since :)

The stock pulley diameter wuz too small to have enough engagement of
the stock poly belt and it was slipping under load. Replaced it with a belt from McMaster, problem went away.

I might do one more replacement later on and stick in a 3 phase motor, so
that I could control the SFPMs (I have a VFD driving me Home Made Grinder).

Overall, the build quality is top notch.Table is most impressive, perfectly flat
and truly massive.

And lastly - take a look @ TimberWolf blades. They use some fancy steel from
Sweden, sell it in all lengths, very reasonably priced. They also have tons of
info, more than you'd ever need to know, about all-things-bandsaw :)
