Outdoor knife you wish you would have never bought?

Right, it must be a conspiracy. If these people are so hard to please then why not list every knife they own?

Your post made me want to puke.:(

Hey Liam,

Are you referring to dawsonbob's post? I couldn't be sure, but then he posted.

dawsonbob wasn't trying to be insulting, he was only kidding around as usual. This backed up with his obvious poor taste in knives  is what makes him dawsonbob :D

Wouldn't want to change that.

Or are we interpreting your post incorrectly?

Ha ha, I just caught this thread. Doc, you sneaky bugger :D Well, I have to admit that the BK-7 has moved on from my hands, but its new owner likes it swell and I think that makes for a happy ending. I did like the BK-7, but compared to the RC-6 it just couldn't quite match up and when I would go to grab one or the other, the RC-6 or Rick's S-curve inevitably come out.

Now, I usually like taking the S-curve in preference to the RC-6 but, but I sometimes stick my knives through the nastiest crud that I'd feel bad doing so with Rick's piece of functional art. That and my left index finger still has a lump of scar tissue the size of a pea on it from when the S-curve decided it was going to try and lop it off at the knuckle :D

Not too many regrets, but like Mtnfolk Mike, I've moved a few on in pursuit of new surprises. My RD-9 is something that doesn't get much use and probably won't because I decided that 9" x 1/4" choppers aren't for me. However, I don't begrudge the RD-9 for teaching me that lesson. It was a lesson that needed to be taught and she came to me from another great trade so its all good. I think I would have been far more disappointed buying a battlemistress, even though they rock as choppers, but finding out in the long run that I'm just not a chopper knife kind of guy. That said, I'm still smitten with my Koyote leuku/machete. Guess I just convinced myself its a machete and not a chopper :D

Biggest regret was the mora #1. False expectations. I thought this thing was going to be amazing. It was just a utility knife. I thought a scandi blade was going to make me a carving maniac. It didn't. I did learn what a scandi will do and how it behaves, but for me the claims people have on them just don't reconcile with my experience. So regrets for buying it? Well, it was a lesson learned and I don't begrudge the mora that either. I think I'm happier knowing I'm not a scandi-phile and did not jump into a bushlore or something like that.

Can't say I have any regrets on any of the custom knives from W&SS makers I've bought. The only regret is that I have too many knives of the similar class and I just can't really bear to move any of them. Oh well, do I begrudge them that? No.

I like all my Rat Cutlery blades, but I know myself enough that I am thankful I did not buy the hest or the RC-5. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't like them. Also, the RC-3 forum knife. The orange handle kind of annoys me now for some reason. I thought it was great at first and I love the orange G10 on my Breeden pathfinder, but something about the coated blade and orange handle just looks halloweenish. But its a great little slicer, I got it at a great price when they went up at the subforum and the ESEE logo is still pretty neat. Do I begrudge having it? No way, I use that puppy all the time!

I wish I would have never bought my first custom by the Graham Bros because now all I want is customs :)

How much rum did it take? :D
