Outdoor Multi-tool

Before multitools came out, I used to carry a large Victorinox, probably the Ranger but I don't remember, with a dogbone screwdriver and a 5" Vise-Grip. The screwdriver and Vise-Grip went to work with me.

Currently the one most on my mind is the Victorinox One Hand Trekker. I haven’t really needed pliers while in the great outdoors yet but I can see how they might be useful. What do you take with you and why?
I feel much the same way about the need for pliers in the wilderness; I've been camping and backpacking for decades without them, and never felt the need. For me, the Victorinox One Handed Trekker is one of my favorite companions when I am wandering the woods. Another one I like is the Victorinox Outrider. With the Outrider, you give up the one-handed opening of the Trekker, but gain a pair of scissors which I find useful.

Either one makes a great compainion when with a fixed blade for the outdoors.
