OK,

So what survival videos are out there?

I have the Ray Mears...

World of Survival
Country Tracks
Extreme Survival
Real Heroes of Telemark
Bushcraft
Wild Food
Ray Mears Goes Walkabout

I think I will acquire the Les Hiddins 'Bush Tucker Man' stuff next....

Bush Tucker Man
8 Classic Stories of Survival

I have a Gene Ward DVD, Beyond the 10 Essentials....

Of course there is the Ron Hood stuff....

And the Mors Kochanski stuff....

What else is there?

Marion

Les Stroud's Survivorman series.
I Shouldn't be Alive.
Alone in the wilderness.
Prepared to Survive

G'day Marion

What else is there?

As well as Major Les Hibbens, if you interested in another Aussie perspective, have a look at the Malcom Douglas Videos. Whilst strictly speaking more adventure than survival, they contains a lot of info and are well and trully worth a look.

Kind regards
Mick

As much as I like Bushtuckerman, if you're interested in learning survival techniques from a video, I highly recommend you go with Ron Hood's stuff first.

And don't forget John McPherson, although his stuff might be more primitive skill oriented than you want.

For educational purposes, Ron and Karen's videos are the best!

I've bought the entire collection minus there latest video on Bronze (Bronze III). Love all there work.

I would say the survivalschool.com video on Firemaking (two DVD set) actually covers fire starting more comprehensively, but you can't beat the Hoods for value and breadth of skills. Excellent info.

If my set got stolen today, I'd be ordering replacements this evening.

Two enthusiastic thumbs up!

may I ask where you got World of Survival and
Country Tracks? I have Ray's other DVDs but can't find those two.
I enjoy all of the Mears stuff I have and will get more if I can find them, but must agree that from a skills training point of view, the Hoods stuff is hard to beat. I have all of their older VHS videos,. Wish I had the DVDs.
be safe... Ted

While not suvival per se, check out Dick Proenneke's DVD's.

The video "17 Ways to Start a Fire without a Match: and 100 Other Useful Skills" is slightly outdated, but it's the best video I've seen on signalling (especially the effectiveness of the signal mirror), to date. Check your local library. All of the libraries I've been to have it for some reason.
