hi,

I haven't found a thread so I'm posting this.

I'm wondering if y'all can help me with finding a SAK (Victorinox variety if possible) that includes the following tools:
- knife
- scissors
- saw
- can opener thingy
- screwdriver + wire stripper thingy
- magnifying glass
- awl/reamer
and if following is nice to have:
- parcel hook
- cork screw

I have huntsman and I bought explorer plus recently but I kinda want huntsman WITH magnifying glass which I think might serve best as outdoors companion. ...

or is the only solution SwissChamp?

any help thanks

you'd probably have to bump up to a swisschamp for all that. the hard part is that the magnifier is in very few vic knives.

I know :(

is..... Swiss Champ worth its weight? does anyone use this as EDC? or only as eye candy?

I have a Swisschamp that resides in the backpack full time.
As I bring the pack with me everywhere, I bring the Swisschamp everywhere.
Talk about a compact "survival knife"; it has all the tools you need to do any reasonable task you want. :)

I bought two of them when they were 40% off at Canadian Tire, so I could have one in reserve.
I can't say much more in the positive than that.

its two thick for me. I'd rather carry two thinner SAKs than a swisschamp.
Carry it in a ruck or on your belt. Also look for the Champ's predecessor, the Champion. The older magnifiers were 8X vs the Champ's at 5X (2004-2012) or the 6X (2012 and beyond) plus the older scissors used a screw vs. a rivet for the pivot (1991 and beyond).

Yeah, definitely check out the Champion. It's significantly less bulky than the Swisschamp IMO. The pliers layer is quite thick. Plus, you have extra tools that could be useful like a chisel, fish scaler, etc

For years, a Swisschamp was my only SAK, carried daily and used a lot. That changed when I discovered that Leatherman tools do a lot of what the 'champ did, only better, and simultaneously my lifestyle changed and I needed some of the S'champ implements less or not at all. I still keep it for traveling or other purposes, but it's no longer my main, let alone only multi-tool. During the time it was, however, I used every tool on it (except for the backspring mounted small driver).

Adds a fish scalier.... 6 layer...smallest I know of with saw and magnifier.

I have the Marlboro edition.

Crappy pic but it's pouring rain outside.

Maybe a Champ Plus. It has everything the Swiss Champ does except plier's so it is alittle thinner! :)

Actually, good pic. To the point, however: if you are going that big, might as well get the Swisschamp and have it all.

@znapschatz - that is true but you can get the Champ Plus for $40 and the Swiss Champ for $55 on Ebay so it depends on if you think the plier's are worth an extra $15 as well as an extra layer! :)
