Well, the title says it all! I didn't cut my face off this time, either!! I had some brunch in the woods and thought I would share.

Enjoy!

Great thread, great pics, gorgeous dogs, and great title. Please continue to keep your face and various other parts attached.

Some of us clear away the debris, so as not to start a forest fire. Just sayin'.

Looks like a fun outing Kid. Good job keeping the blood on the inside this time.

And I agree, that is some of the best looking bannock Ive ever seen. Perfect for sure.

Nice pics.

Looks like the black pooch already filled up on bannock.......and is making room for some more!

Thanks! And yes, I should have cleared the area better, I usually do, but I was too lazy/didn't think about it.

Thanks! I've got the simple bannock mastered and now I'm starting to experiment on more complicated ingredients.

Outstanding.

Thank you!

If you make it to the Spring Gathering at Ethan's, please be prepared to teach a seminar on bannock makery. I've never made it myself, but it looks like a really yummy and efficient way to keep one's belly full. :)

Waking up on fire is not as much fun as it looks. ;)

No kidding! In the march shelter contest I fell asleep and the few leaves that were in front of my bed caught and burnt my sleeve! Luckily I was prepared and had three containers of water next to me.

Oh boy, it's not just sharp objects with this kid....

Great photos. And I have to agree with everybody, the bannock looks great.

That bannock looks great!
Nice outing - thanks for sharing.
And good job keeping the body parts intact. A little blood lets you know it was real, but there's no need to go losing skin.

Nice looking meal there. like the rough style handles on that 11.
Thanks! The handles are made by me (That explains that) out of Maple.

You don't even want to know what I did with the .22 and big club!

Thanks! I'll have to remember that next time! A little less organs, a little more blood!

Good grief, young man! For pete's sake, I hope you learned a lesson from that. Clearing a wide berth around your campfire is very helpful, I assure you ;)

:D

Fun stuff! Glad to see that you were still able to count to 10 by the end of the outing.

These pictures remind me of where I grew up. Across the little dead end road we lived on was 100+ acres of woods with a flowing creek straight down the middle of our valley. I always went out there to wonder around, go shooting, piss off the raccoons.... you know, all the typical fun stuff to do. :D

First of all, your mother loves you and is trying like heck to stop you from doing stoopid stuff, while also giving you a ton of freedom to go out and do your own thing/figure it out for yourself. You're a lucky kid. Having been a similarly lucky kid myself, I very strongly recommend giving her a big hug and making her whatever treat she enjoys, as an expression of love and gratitude. :)

It's not as bad as it sounds, really! :D You're worse then my mother! (not!)

Ahem! Uncle JT says, learn the difference between "then" and "than" :grumpy: Spelling and grammar and vocabulary really do count in the "real" world.

P.S. Rock on with the learning of how to use tools and hanging out with dogs and building campfires and shelters and sleeping in the woods. That kinda stuff builds character :)

Noted! *Get up and walks over to Mom*

It is one thing if I'm consistently making that mistake, quite another when it is occasional. If it is occasional, it is a typo. If it is consistent, it is bad spelling/grammar. Besides, have you seen Bladit's post's?
