My Curly maple handle seems a little dry to me,it's probably not, would it be OK to use linseed oil,I know it's stabilized wood but this wouldn't hurt would it? Thanks.
Renwax usually works too. The linseed should be fine, but if the stabilized wood has enough of that plastic filler stuff the linseed will probably just form a tacky film on the surface.
Use a good auto car wax, or a good wood wax. Polish with soft cloth. I put a couple of coats on mine then can go out and play all I want to with it and it is fine.
I received this as a tip here when I first got my maple OVB... Go to your local Ace Hardware (or equivalent) and look for "Howard Feed-N-Wax" This stuff is great! Absolutely "pops" out the wood grain pattern and deepens the color. It is a mixture of beeswax, carnuba wax and orange oil. It looks great and smells good too!
Mongo
Next time I am near one of those places I will pick up some of that. That sounds interesting and by whats in it should work great. Thanks for the tip.
