Oven Build

I finally built an oven. Thanks to everyone who gave advise on past threads, namely Rashid, Jim (ib2v4u), Eric (efleming), Nathan (SilverPilate).

My oven is approx 17 amps through 15g Kanthal. Chamber is 15" x 9" x 4.5". 10 minutes to 1500°, 30 minutes to 2000°.

Winding the coil was a lot easier than I thought. I got everything from Duralite.

I would like to point out that some of the threads suggested that only one of the power legs need to be switched off to make the oven safe. This is true for the PID signal, but if I touch a 220V coil that is still powered from one 120V leg, I can get a shock if I am the ground. My PID and coils have separate power switches.

I channeled the bricks with a router-bit in a cordless drill, running through a wooden template with a shaft collar as the depth stop. That worked well.

thanks again

Looks great! An oven makes all the difference. I'm looking to get an Evenheat, but had to spend some coin on a laptop for the new job first.

Yeah, I switched one leg, and I realize that the coil is still hot at 110, it just doesn't heat up. I always kill the master before removing blades. Not really sure why I wired an extra switch to one leg. It lets me set up the PID before heating, I guess, but doing it all over I would do away with it.
