My point EXACTLY. Lots of forums just say take to your local machine shop to have tested. Well my real world was they DON"T actually test and their equipment is suspect. You can do all your coupon tests with small samples and look at grain scales but the BOTTOM line you don't have a clue unless you have a RH tester that is CALIBRATED. I obviously didn't take my knife blanks to a reputable sources But they sell regularly to mining companies!
But I did buy a RH tester even though I don't sell knives at this time. I just didn't want to make any knives based on a formula on heat that SAID my knives were heat treated correctly and that my knives were heat treated to the optimum .
