Over the border shipping

Just dont use fedex or ups they really love charging through the roof on duty. Canada post's expedited parcel is around $20 and comes with $100 insurance and you can add up to $1000insurance @ $2/100, it also has delivery confirmation. I havent had an issue yet with it but the next step up in price adds signature to it as well.

a very long time ago I was shipping switchblades to Canada but when I found out that they where not allowed in Canada I stop asap but I never lost one to customs. I would try the post office and ask them.

Ship it with canadapost track package, I haven't ever had a single problem shipping to or getting knives from the states. Whether you are shipping or receiving something from the states track it with the same tracking number on canadapost.ca within Canada and usps.com within the states. Like I said I have shipped to and purchased several knives and never had a problem.

when you do the post office in the USA you have to do a page on what is in it for customs and you get a tracking number with it for free and that is Priority mail. is it the same in Canada too when shipping to the USA??

Yes, the same when shipping from Canada to the USA. When sending via 'Expedited Parcel' from Canada Post to the US, an itemized list of contents with a declared value is required. The expedited package with tracking (signature required), includes $100.00 insurance. Additional insurance can be purchased. I have received and shipped many packages from and to the USA and Internationally. I have never experienced any negative issues.
Unfortunately, there are many sellers/collectors who will only ship Cont. US etc. Shipping internationally is no more time consuming or riskier than domestic shipping if the item is properly packed, insured and tracked. When shipping internationally, I factor the added cost of insured/tracked shipping into the asking price. I find the cost to ship internationally to be very reasonable, safe and fast. Canada Post/USPS delivery has been excellent in my experience.

I know of one site that the people want you to ship your knife to their country for the same price you are shipping in the USA. Get real. You go to all of the trouble to get what it is going to cost and then they say forget it. Why do the dealers on that site bother selling to people in other countries is beyond me. I can’t see myself going to that much trouble.

I'm doing a trade with a forum member and this is my first time shipping across the border, does anyone know what the custom fee will be like?

Hard to say, sometimes it doesn't cost anything and sometimes its allot. But usually is goes by the value that the seller puts on the knife on the customs form. GST and customs import fees can estimate about 10-15% of the value on the form.
