So, in preparation of the PSK challenge from TFin, I wanted to break down my kit and give an overview of what I have any why.

This things come with me everywhere, be it at the mall (take out the Nimravus) movies, just out for a drive or a day hike. Its light and I have everything I need, I wouldn't go with anything less than this. Something else that comes along is water, I carry a bottle here and there and the car always has 12 1 liter bottles in it.

First off, here is a general kit pic. this is EDC, sometimes minus the fixed.

Now, in the Roots camera case, is my general gear. Gps, glosticks, wire, sharpening equipment, signaling, some fishing stuff( line, hooks, weights) 3 feet of rope, compass and heat sheet. This goes on my belt.

Next is my first aid kit, this also holds my Altoids tin kit and a few odds and ends. (its all pretty self explanitory, but ask questions if you have any) The only thing not pictured is purifacation tablets.

Now the reason I don't have much in my altoids tin is because I don't like having everything in one place. I like having spares spread out, that way if for some reason I drop it I still have back up elsewhere. keep some essentials in one place is fine, but having every thing in one place I don't like. Weather we like it or not, we set stuff down, and lets face it were human we forget, At least I do.

Now finally is my Nimravus that I've done some work too, and its sheath. This sheath has a fire-starter and has spare tinder in the black pouch.(lint in a ziplock.

So there ya go guys, any questions or comments let'em fly.

Do you tote this all around in a man-purse or what? There seems to be almost too much redundancy in some areas. For example, how many light sources do you need? Or how much snare wire? Four spinners in the fishing kit? I think you could streamline the setup a bit.

Really? I wasn't going to say anything, but I thought he was missing a few things. Garbage bags, 20' of paracord, water containers, candles, tinder, fatwood, duct tape, spare batteries for the GPS, etc.. Better to have it and not need it...

I do have spare battries for the gps, just I had to take the for the camera tonight:o

But I've got a few baggies for water, and fatwood I hate, I'd rather have lint which I have.

Duct tape, candles and paracord can be added though.

Really for lighting its not bad, fenix tk10 is the only thing thats kinda clunky but its not that bad. and Im allways going through wire, Ive strapped up mufflers to fixing windsheil wipers with it.
But I wouldn't wanna go any smaller, the firstaid just goes over the shoulder or in my GF'f purse, and the pouch is on the belt, I thought it was kinda on the small side.

Suggestions only. Great kit.

Awesome EDC kit...I think I'm gonna borrow some of your ideas when I build my own soon :D.

Looks good! I'm excited to get back on my feet to re-organize my gear since I've got several new additions lately, and I haven't revamped it yet since moving to Oregon.

Are cigarettes normally a part of your kit? :D

That's a nice kit, but I was wondering about the size as well.

Usually just on me I have a multi-tool on my belt, a 5500 lb carabiner which holds my keys on my left side belt loop, my knife for the day (large sebenza 21 right now) and a way to start a fire. All of my stuff isn't half as much as you are showing and I can barely sit straight, let alone have all of that gear on me Everyday. I do have kits that I leave in the car, and of course in my packs when I plan a trip, but I can't picture carrying that much stuff on me everyday. +1 to you for being able to

Could you show a comparison pic with an everyday object to see how that camera pouch really looks?

Looks great Fonly; it's always a challenge to get the right amount of gear you're comfortable with to conicide with a package(s) that is comfortable to carry. Several feet of 100mph (duct) tape rolled flat slips into any kit and has a 100 uses. I'm trying to get a "controlled" burn time of a tea-light candle, but I made a couple of the mini-Tobassco lamps that were introduced here. I used a couple Zippo lighter wicks and had some lamp oil I hadn't used in a while...and whola! They seem a little more robust than a regular candle...my burn times were 40 minutes without the tinfoil conroller and 75 minutes with a tinfoil cover and small hole for a tip of the wick. I just rolled a little tinfoil around the bottle and secured the hole thing with a small section of bicylce inner-tubing. Great little addition!

As to any other recommedations, well you can't carry everthing 24/7 and if you could somehow rig your water bottle with a small metal cup, that would go a long ways to completing the excellent PSK you have.

I have been pondering one of those, teamed with a 2XAA (forgot the name) that has a LOW low, but may just go with a new Surefire L1, sacrificing the HIGH high and LOW low for high and low to save space. I do like having the option to fa;; back on the ubiuitous AA though. Love single CR123A lights but they are not as easy to find as AAs. But, then, in a disaster, AAs will be sold out and the $10/pair CR123As may still be on the shelf if you're TOO late. I have seen stores cleared of batteries in hours over the threat of an ice-storm in parts of the country where that weather is unusual.

thats one thing I allways worried about. I have aa's up the yingyang, but ten cr's in my kit. To be fair on 60 lumens (which is plenty enough for night nav or signaling) I get ten hours. Now, with ten battries on my person (some in a pack) I get a total of 50 hours of run time, 2 hours a day I have 25 Days of survival use with this light. and I intend on gett more battries for in the car and house.

That is another thing I want around with me, you can get metal cups and canteens that go together right? on fits in the other?

That would be best, or mabye a nalglene bottle with a metal cup on the bottom?

There are lots of options for "nesting", but for me personally, a metal cup always seems to limit me somehow. I've seen a lot of Breeden's kits based on a Nalgene and holder, which seems like the best way to go. But I just don't want to have that bulk on me.

I'm going to work on my aluminum foil folding skills, and perhaps move to a smaller pelican case. But my mind keeps coming back to wanting a metal cup. Maybe a Guyot bottle as a base? I think I'm slightly stuck in the wanting a mini-kit to have as a backup, and a really good minimalistic base kit that I use.
