I know they are heavy. I know they are large. I know it's better to use a fixed blade for hard tasks. I know it's better to use a thin and light folder for EDC. I'm sure Freud would have something to say about this...
But I still like my overbuilt folders :-)

Yes.
Well . . .
. . . they are pretty / interesting to look at, fun to play with and make excellent dual or ( duel ) use paper weights.
I even put my brass handled Buck 110 in that catagory.

How ever my fiber reinforced Nylon 110 LT and my Cold Steel Holdout One I put in the Must Have Serious User catagory.

Overbuilt??? When considering that a knife is simply a cutting tool, I suppose they could be considered overbuilt. Although my lightweight Opinel no8 is more than enough knife for my cutting needs.

Freud would have something to say
;) "Sometimes a knife is JUST a knife " ! Although any knife is "compensating" for the our natural deficiency of tooth and claw .

These folders make sense if you want/need a fixed blade's toughness in folder form . But you pay a lot more to get it .

E.g. : Cold Steel Drop Forged Hunter is probably still much stronger than any of the above at a fraction of the price .

Beautiful collection. I have no overbuilt folders currently. But that's about to change. I've been looking at the 4-Max and Adamas. The SR1 looks nice too. I'd love a Ti frame lock from Crusader but they seem hard to find.

My personal opinion is if you haven't used a thin (bladewise) and light folder in your rotation then you should try one out for a week or two. That being said, if you they are already a part of your rotation, carry whatever floats your boat.

Is the Cold Steel SR1 in CTS-XHP? I was looking for one but they're either all sold out or were not made in XHP.

A Benchmade Adamas is on my short list.

My heavy duty folders would include:
- XM-24 Wharncliffe
- XM-18 Fatty Harpoon Tanto

I semi-like one of those listed.
I question the design premise behind several of the 'knives.'
Ill take a GB over each and all of them. YMMV.

What ever floats your boat. At least you like knives. Did you have a question or are you just telling us what folding knives you like?
