Overbuilt Folders

I find myself drawn to overbuilt folders, and I can't articulate (justify?) why. Like many here a traditional slip joint takes care of the majority of my needs. I have quite a collection of "over built" BM and ZT knives. I can't help but conclude there may be a lack of maturity on my part that draws me to these overbuilt beasts. Or maybe I'm just over compensating...but I digress. Of late I've been making an effort to round out my collection with some good old fashion traditionals. I've made some headway...

May I ask what the first knife is?

I'd also like to try this one if I come across some spare change.

I'm a HUGE fan of ZT Knives, and it seems no matter how many new folders I buy I always end up going back to my 0550 Gen II, and I've never found it to be too heavy to EDC.

I was blown away this year with the ZT's 0777M390 (far and away the best folder I've ever seen at or near that price) and the incredible 0600 yet when I know for certain that my knife will be used a lot that day I usually grab my 0050 Gen II.

Some of my favorites:

Do i need overbuilt? For 90% of the time, no. I could get by with a SAK compact and do most of the tasks at hand. Do i enjoy having overbuilt folders? Yes, very much. It all comes down to preference and what you enjoy having in your pocket

I dont have any zt folders or very many overbuilt knives (just a benchmade 275 and a sog fatcat) but I love overbuilt folders as they feel very solid and I like big, tough knives thats what I prefer to anything else. I have many zt knives on my short list, especially the 0200.

The 0200 is a great knife, I was very late to the party getting this one, and it exceeded my expectations by a mile. I'm a more of a framelock guy, but this knife is a tank.

I think if/when I buy an overbuilt folder, it's going to be something custom like the Jeremy Robertson folders.
