Overbuilt knives

Busse needs more than one adjective to describe their knives (and various models). I don't think overbuilt is bad at all and is just another way to say tough and not likely to fail when you need it! A razor blade is very sharp but not a one blade solution for survival. If someone really needs a blade for survival, they aren't worried about a warranty. I don't think I'll ever be in that situation but I still love the knives!

There is not doubt that Busse's are stout as hell but Jerry offers a number of knives that are almost nimble, for their size. The Axe Hammer and Skinny Ash-1 are two great examples. Many recent O2W offerings like the Ash2, Boom Parang and Ratwieler had nice blade geometry for their size. So yes, Busse knives are overbuilt but are still great performing knives considering their intended use.

Any .30" can be tough, but the abusive crap I have done with 3/16" swamp rats and my busse ak47 have given me absolute confidence in these knives at that thinness. There are some knives I want thicker, for feel and balance mostly, but honestly, the added thickness generally isn't needed.

It's not the thickness of these knives that make INFI shine; it's what it can do in a thinner knife.

If you guys haven't already tried out the .18 BG FSH --- you ought to. It's so "overbuilt" without being "overbuilt"?!

In short, it's not going to break/fail you -- no matter how hard you reasonable wreck it. However, its geometry and dimensions are so excellent for a full sized camp knife. I'd put it right there with the Sarsquatch

Agreed--similarly, I picked up a Trash 2... it's less than a pound, but still big and bad, and since I stripped the coating, it slices better than average... especially for a knife it's size. I can hike and camp with it, and have every confidence it will outlast me. I just hope it doesn't too soon...;)

I would say Busse knives are overbuilt.

IMO, overbuilt is just a term to describe something built beyond the necessary for a certain function or on the larger, heavier, longer side of the norm or with materials that are beyond necessary for the task it will be used for.
