Overnight in the snow

Very cool, thanks for sharing.
The knives are the carbon Lapin Puukko knives from Finland. I have the same set but they are stainless. Great knives.

No shame in not commenting, the shame is not everyone gets to camp in the snow. You have. :D

You're right that is a shame. This winter offered more people that opportunity than ever before yet how many let a snowy winter camping adventure slip them by. That oil lamp thing is really nice. The candle lantern does rock but have you tried the mini. It uses tea cup candles that are dirt cheap.

Have not used the mini. Tea candles are a bit to small IMO; I like to use Bee's wax candles for longevity.

Man this is an awesome post! and gives me some ideas. I thought about trying a snow cave here this winter, but I was more interesting in learning about the new environment as a whole this winter, maybe next year when I'm not dealing with relocation shock :)

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks guys. I have some ideas on oil lamps too, that you don't need to carry a stone with.
Envision 4-6" of plumbers tape folded in half, pinching a traditional oil lamp wick the long way.
The ends would/might be bent outward creating "legs". All this set into a shallow tin as the reservoir.
