Overnight Shelter Contest CHAT THREAD

So, would constructing a shelter at the Holiday Inn count?

I was wondering if I could figure out a way to do it with mosquito netting and maybe a window a/c unit if I don't get around to it in the next week or so.

Cold, rainy, and I'm going out on the weekend; I'm tempted now, even though I don't think I have enough tarps.

hmmm...
with all the rain here recently, maybe I should build a raft with a tent in the middle!
or a tree-house.

If it's out in the landscaping / shrubbery and you can avoid security and/or arrest, it would count!

I ain't missing this one. May even get my daughter to help, if it's allowed. Biscuit?

I have a buddy whose wife has been known to say that of a hotel has anything less than a 4-star rating ... it's camping!

Not yet you're not...

My youngest also wants to participate - in fact she wants to invite friends - but I don't think that she (or any of the friends) are gonna sleep outside, in NH, in April. But at the very least I might have the thrill of trying to manage 11 & 12 year-olds wielding sharp implements. Maybe I'll just harness them together and make them the draft horses.....

Yeah, this is a fun time of year for a contest like this for us folks in New England. The weather in April can best be described as, grey. It's still 38 degrees and raining with the earth being a healthy mix of mud and snow. :D

Dang...it's gonna be in the mid 60s-70s and sunny this weekend.
I might try and tough it out 😬

I can picture his evil little grin as he picked it. :)

I am up for the challenge and if anything it is an advantage. We get extra points for cold, muddy and raining right? Double points for hypothermia? :D I am the guy who slept in a snow cave for the winter camping contest last winter so you know I am down for whatever! The timing for me is just right, I had something up my sleeve before this was even announced.

I have been in shelter 6 times overnight so far here in Manitoba Canada. Coldest was - 4 F. My BK7 & BK2 were with me. Still waiting for BK9 Sheath to be ready. Hopefully this week and I can take it on the 1st trip overnight
