Spent the night out recently at one of my usual spots. Didn't take many photos but I got a few good shots of the weather conditions near the entrance.

In one of the photos you can see the Blackhawk pack I've been using. The hydration pack hasn't given me any issues with freezing so far, but the coldest temperatures it's seen have been around 10-15 degrees so it hasn't seen anything too bad.

It was a cold night but enjoyable. I cooked good food and got some reading done in the morning by the fire before I headed home. We had a few warmer days, then it snowed this night. Compare the amount of snow on the ground in the first few photos and the last one with the tent. Was pretty, glad I went out that night.

Weather looks really mean and cold!!! We had snow here ... once ...1981. I must admit that when I see these snowy shots I cannot believe you guys camp out there. I take my hat off to you guys and gals!

Hahah, it's not so bad. The cold woke me up a few times because my sleeping bag isn't meant for this kind of weather, but good beer and a fire will help :D

I wish I could go camping in cold weather like that, at least once or twice would be nice so that I could at least make a fire for more than just light and food. Make a fire where I'm at and you'll either:

A. Burn your face from the heat of fire + heat of Texas
B. Burn half the forrest down due to droughts and hot dry weather
C. make a bar-b-q
D. All of the above

:D

Glad you like the pack Mike! From what I can see in the pictures, the weather looked pretty formidable...

As an Ohio guy I wish the exact opposite. I'd like to be able to go camp out anytime of the year without the threat of frostbite :D

Looks like a lovely spot, Vivi. But I'd like to ask you a question, and can be civil with any response...

Did you finally go through the effort to track down the land owner of this place, and secure permission to be there?
