Anybody have any experience selling and shipping knives overseas? Have a chance to make a sale but have no clue how to go about it or the pitfalls.

Thanks!

A lot of it has to do with where you are shipping to. If you can be more specific as to where you would be shipping to, you may get some better advice.

I usually use USPS Priority International. You can insure the package up to $5000 that way, and it's not horribly expensive. Also, it's trackable.
Go to the USPS website, pick Priority International shipping, find what zone your destination country is, and then do your best to estimate the package size and weight. That'll get you in the ball park for shipping cost, then add some for insurance. Can't remember if the website will calc that for you.
That's my advice.

Tom what is the knife you're shipping? Might be able to point you in the right direction if you give me a bit of info :)

Folders can be a bit complicated. If there is any kind of device to assist opening, including a flipper, it will probably fall under the "one handed opening knives" category and be seized. Knives which can be flicked open with the wrist may also wind up seized. Heaps of folders are ok. Foldes which have a thumb stud or hole but can't be flicked open also tend to be fine. It's a matter of if in doubt, email customs. Im linking a page below which might help.

I should add that this is to the best of my knowledge but it is best to go straight to the source.
