Oversley and Wixford: A walk in search of a Roman Road.

As everyone has said lovely pictures and write up.

Do you do much fishing? I can imagine some nice chub in that river, I'd love to cast an ultra light surface lure underneath those over hanging branches!

No, I don't fish. I saw a carp in the Avon last week though!

Everytime I see pics of the english countryside I always wonder why anyone would ever want to live in london.
It's the job opportunities and the social life. I know of people who commute 100 miles and more so they can work in London and live somewhere prettier.

always nice to see anohter country; how things are done.

can you camp in any of those hollows, etc., brother?

Wild camping without permission is illegal in England and Wales. However a polite approach to the farmer will often result in a quiet corner being made available.

Oversley wood is actually Forestry commission land and is open to the public. The Forestry commission normally frown severely on wild camping but you'd very likely not be disturbed in a quiet spot like this.

Thank you, I really enjoy your hike/history lessons and pictures. Looking at them seems somehow familiar, I chalk it up to Sir Walter Scott and Jack Higgins. Very interesting. The deer may have suspected Robin of Locksley
