Redbr15, Its great to see a confident approach to survival although I believe it requires a humble approach rather than that of an arrogant one as over presumptuousness can lead to disaster rather than survival. Psychology is a component of survival and confidence does not entirely encompass the prerequisites, excluding "dumb ass luck".

I'm sorry you interpreted this post as a portrayal of an arrogant approach, as that was not the intent.

It was merely an attempt to make people think about the necessary core preparedness, rather than all of the gear options that are available

I was very fortunate to have a scoutmaster who was a Major that served under General Patton in WWII - Yeah that was a long tiome ago and some things have changed and some haven't - Just thinkin about the thinkers
