I have several iPhone Aps which just access stuff that's on the web. So, why bother? Speed. The ap gets just the text from the site, not all of the graphics. You see, the ap already has all the logos and graphics and such. So, all it needs to compose the pages is the text. This makes is run much faster over wireless.

I own an iPod Touch and think it would be a great idea. I would suggest contacting Spark and getting his permission before you go any further with it. But yeah, a Bladeforums app would be cool beans.
 
I use a BlackBerry Curve and I view BF just fine, usually when the population is around 1500, it slows down. But during the day sprint keeps my internet viewing very speedy. Don't need an app here. My two cents.

Well first I have to see if there is any interest, then I'll talk to Spark. :)
 
I'd love to have an app for my iPhone, and I'd be willing to pay a reasonable fee for it. Just a few humble suggestions, if I could:

Make sure that most of the stuff on the site works on the app. Nothing frustrates me more than paying for something that doesn't really do much of anything (only allows me to read posts and reply, or something like that). Also, make sure that at least some of the images show up. That's probably a no brainer, but I enjoy looking at the picture threads, so an app that supports more than text would really appeal to me. Just my thoughts......

Oh, and if you need someone to beta test it...... :D
 
maybe optional pictures, if you want to look at one you tap it and then it loads?

Currently I'm thinking of a paid and free version. Paid could incorporate PM's, a search, etc, and could be bundled with your paid membership. I'm still a bit "iffy" about charging for this, and it's still a long way off. I have to figure out how Obj-C works first off. :D

That's a good idea, another idea is to only allow pictures from BladeForums (like attachments), or have an option.

I'm just trying to gauge interest at this point.
 
While it's nice to have all the extra applications available at-hand, I'm a simple person. GPS? Give me a map.

I'm fine browsing, but for BF I would love to see either an app (looking into the programming of that) or at least an alternate setup for mobile devices. Something that makes reading long threads just a touch easier, push notifications for PM's and thread subscriptions, and some larger size text at the least.
 
It would be nice if it would automatically size text for easy reading without expanding the window. Also automatically correct size photos to fit the full viewing screen. Easy to fill in windows, remember password, jump to forum or select forums (place a check by the forum you always want to view?)...
 
I voted no. I really don't need any other way to access this site. I spend far too much time on here already. :)
 
Safari works fine for me. What would an app add?
 
There are some iPhone/Touch-friendly formats that some other forums use -- I can forward some links to anyone who's interested. It's not a stand-alone app -- just a different display setting so that everything works cleanly and you don't have to struggle with the resizing, scrolling, etc.

When done right, it's like the difference between looking at a web email page and the dedicated Apple mail utility on phone/touch.

I would love to have that available -- and I suspect that it's relatively easy to implement since this forum is run on commonly-used software.
 
I voted no, because I have been surfing BF for years on a iPhone and never had a problem with they way it is now.

PMs are set from BF to send to my email... Set the email to push and now I almost now within a few mins of getting a PM.

What could a APP add that we can't do already? :cool:
