Owning a "switchblade" for your collection

Oh, so the "sale" occurs when I call and give them my credit card #, then the subsequent shipment is of something I already own, so it's not for the purpose of sale - the sale has already occured.

This is making my head hurt.

Then the dealer could just as easily ship me the knife for the purpose of the knife visiting a California beach, the I could buy it after it's already here, as a separate transation.

We have too many lawyers.

im not an expert on interstate laws, though i believe you purchase would be perfectly legal.

also, dont assume that because a dealer will ship the knife, that it is legal. there are 50 states and many countries to which the often sell. it would be difficult for them to know every law. more likely, they know their local and state laws and have a familiarity with states/countries whom they ship most often.

j22knife, i'm in LA too... My advice is not to bother w/ online purchases over 2inches ...I know this is an older thread but i wanted to mention that the father of the guy who owns Pro-Tech, owns an awesome cutlery on Broadway downtown. They have the best selection of autos anywhere in SoCal (obviously a lot of Pro-Techs).. They only sell autos over 2" to law enforcemnet, military, and collectors. I'm assuming you're at least 1 of the three..

Also not sure if it's been posted but here's a great page on Cali knife laws incl. switches and car transport..: http://www.equalccw.com/knifelaw.html
