Figured I'd try to get some inertia into starting a recurring own the skills push..
There are many skills we all know but knowing them cognitively, and getting them to flow in reality can be 2 different things.
so I'm going to host a challenge every month...(there will be no prizes unless otherwise stated) other than the reward of saying you have a better understanding of a concept.

I figured I'd start her off easy... so for the month of October the challenge will be the fig. 4 deadfall... We all know it, almost everyone has fumbled through carving and setting them once or twice... But how well can you make it? how sensitive is it? how fast can you make one? or 10? how efficient are you at setting it? yadda yadda yadda....

so starting October first.. the challenge is to make a fig.4 everyday....this is easier than it sounds... all you really need.. is a sharp knife.. some twigs a weight and a few minutes... Photos of the daily results are welcome..

ll posts for the month can be placed in this thread...

I've got a better idea for November.. but let's take her 1 month at a time.

Sounds good to me! Looks Like I better start gathering some twigs up! If I miss a day can I do (2) the next?? I know you know all about having kids.

Sure thing skab.... the goal is just to get the repetitions in

a kind benefactor was kind enough to donate a prize a medium Alice pack (no frame) I'll pay for shipping in the CON US.

Thanks again bro...so I guess here are the rules
in order to be eligible you must complete a fig. 4 a day for at least 27 days for the month of October,, my wife will choose a winner at random from those that comply...
This should be fun.

Thanks again to the anonymous donator.

Might have problems doin one the days im on the trucks for 24.....However, Ill do one every day im off.

J if you can;t get to make one one day make 2 the next... like i said the days are unimportant its the repetition...heck if you want to make all of them in an afternoon..put in that sex in the city dvd box set and knock'em out brother.

MD..since utilizing primitive traps isn;t "legal" in all areas.. I can't specifically award extra points but I for 1 would love to see any pics of success...

RR- I was more kidding about the extra "points" but I will post pics if I get any. Starts Oct 1 right?

I will be doing my best to stay with this one, and the others. Between the kids and my backlog of sheaths that I have to make, this may be trouble, I was thinking of doing 7 on a weekend day and dispersing them out in the yard. The neighbor saw me putting some up (practice) a while back and asked if I was as tired of the cats around here as she was. I smiled and gave the best answer I could think of "Yes". I am pretty sure she thinks I'm trapping felines in my backyard. Its ok for people to think you're crazy. I am living proof. Best wishes. Moose

Cool Beans guys... Yeah..oct 1st is the start date... D-boles.. something tells me of all of us you probably need the least amount or practice when setting traps...
Moose... I hear you man everyone in the ambuance garage thinks I'm nuts trapping mice and such in the off hours.

Pierre, Andre and Francois trapping is always in season both in the U.S. and in Canada. I can't say about Oz though.

:D

Pics stolen from Doc... owner and trainer of the three test rats.

This is more what I had in mind:D
Doesn't count because it's a Paiute instead of a fig4 but it was a demo for another member (acutus) on selective trapping. We baited it with a sunflower that the squirrel had cut himself and was eating when I scared him out of the garden.
