I am looking for reviews/opinions of the Owyhee Hunter. I am surprised to see that some people are trading/selling it since it looks like a keeper.

I think the reason you see them for sale is that he makes a lot of them.

They are beautifully made knives, his F&F is flawless and for a nice looking hunter/utility, for the price, you cant beat them.

(Here's my Snakewood/Damascus!) :)

Dang, I have little use for a fixed blade, but I love Scott Cooks work and want one of those :)

Great pic - thanks.

Yes Scott makes some very fine knifes and his Owyhee Hunter is most definitely one heck of a fine knife, a Sebbie fixed blade that cuts like a dream and stays sharp a long time! BTW ditto Megalobyte, the reason is simple.

Scott Cook knows sharp, very sharp. I had one, but could not envision myself carrying a fixed blade, so I sold it.

If you are a fixed blade kind of guy, these are quite reasonably priced.

Thanks APM!

Has anyone ever purchased one of his hunters with Damascus? Just wondering if his damascus is more for performance or just looks?
Again, thanks!

I think that all damascus is more for looks than performance. They perform well but not as well as the new steels like S30V.

Mr. Cook, stays very busy. His small Owyhee hunter was the choice of the Bay Area Knife Collectors Association, 2002 club knife. With 154CM blade steel, Iron wood handles and stainless bolsters it was a real beautiful piece. He made 27 knives for BAKCA club members. Everyone was very pleased with their purchase, including myself. I know that my knife won't see any use because of the unique personal value as a club knife, but my Lochsa folder does get carried. His folder with S30V is one sweet EDC. My two cents worth.

I also have a large Owyhee Hunter. You could not ask for a finer quality knife. Fit and finish are perfect, and the maker is a first class guy to deal with. I have been looking to pick up another in the not too distant future.

Life is good...............

The damascus hunter i bought is too pretty for me to justify using, but i will say that its very common, when you buy a damascus bladed knife, for the maker to not make it all that sharp, not so with Scott, my damascus blade is one of the sharpest, most perfectly ground blades i have ever had. Like i said, one heck of a knife, and very reasonably priced too.

Next, i think id like to get one of his Owyhee's with a really choice blue mammoth ivory handle and vines and roses blade. Oh yeah! :)
