I like using extremes. If you guys would get off the postage thing and get back to looking for comments that just make you laugh, and make your family's eyes pop, and jaws drop, this wouldn't be an issue!

And SASE is not all that foreign (speaking of the BK&T patches, don't start comparing, just listen) to most people here. And unless I happen across something really big, most things will be shipped in a rigid envelope (without SASE), the only thing that should need an actual box.... Well, don't worry about it, just start quoting!
 
Ive got an idea how about you wait until you have boxes to have a contest :) or maybe have another two thumbs up contest.
 
Guys, just work on the contest and don't worry about shipping until that iceberg comes along. Just stop talking about the dang shipping!

Oxide, I don't mean to sound rude or ungrateful of your contest, it's awesome you want to give back to the community and we're all appreciative of it. The problem is that your contest hasn't really been thought out yet. Usually you start with the item you want to give away before you start a thread about your giveaway. You've said that the item could be anything from a paracord bracelet to a leather sheath, and the fact is you don't even know what you plan to use as a prize. If you posted in your original thread that this was a "Mystery Box" prize, I'm sure you could avoid some confusion.

Secondly, you're trying to micromanage this thing man. You've posted an entirely new thread for contest discussion...well guess what people are discussing? The contest! lol. They don't understand it, because you're asking people to ship you a box inside another box, so that you can ship it back to them with the mystery box inside. This may sound nuts, but why not wait until you have the prizes chosen and boxes ready to ship? I think that would also save a lot of confusion. If it takes a little longer to setup and the contest doesn't line up perfectly with your 1000 post, so what? Do it when you can, there's no obligation and many people do give-aways at 1100, 1300 whatever posts. No rules involved.

Also the whole quote thing was done in a contest maybe a month ago? I think you won it actually...


Lastly... What's a Beackerhead? Coming from a guy that is pretty ruthless when he's having one of his grammar-police OCD episodes that's an unforgivable spelling mistake lol. :D

I do have prizes, I'm working on making more just to toss in. And no, I'm keeping my book! I've had it planned out, that's why I ordered the boxes and such from USPS. I may not have worded it the proper way, which is my fault.

Yes the quote contest thing was done recently, and yes it was me who won it, but while this contest is very similar, it is for a different purpose. And I don't like doing just a random drawing, it leaves to much to be desired, and besides, there's already a random drawing contest going on.

I'm not trying to micromanage (ok, maybe a little), but I didn't think this would turn into a thread about shipping methods. If you guys don't want to participate because of my lousy wording, that's fine, I'm not trying to force anyone to participate, but believe me when I say I had no intention of making another thread that turned into such an issue.

I'll go edit my contest thread to make it as clear as I can, but I'm not sure what else I can do.....
 
Sounds like a fun contest, I will have to see what kind of funny quotes I can find so I can enter. I like funny quotes, and I like contests, and I really like contests ABOUT funny quotes! Good idea for a GAW Ox!

make sure your rules are bullet proof..

define your terms, including prizes

or be reamed by rules lawyers and people with more time than sense that will peck you to death...

btw, it's not COMPLETELY required, but it's nice if you run contests and endgame past a mod first. you know, just saying...
