"OYSTERS" a whole tree full

I always had somebody ID them for me before I try a new one. Next I plan on getting some Chicken of the Woods. Ive never ate them. I found a lot last year but they were too old.

This is pretty awesome, I need to spend more time looking around for these in this area now. Lots of new areas to explore now :)

I found a "Chicken" today. I think Im going to fry it. Never tried one of these before.

Nice! I have a cherry stump out back that grows some nice chickens. They really do taste like chicken and have a similar consistency. You look to have scored a good mess.

Schmittie, My old house had a wild cherry tree in the front yard and it would grow a Hen of the Woods every year. I never tried it.

I've seen pics of a hen, guys at work have bragged about the ones they have collected, and I have still never seen one myself.

The hunt continues.....

I fried that "Chicken of the Woods" up dipped in egg and cracker meal and it tasted just like a pork tenderloin. Next time Im making sandwiches out of it.

Has anyone picked and eaten Slippery Jack boletes? There were a bunch of them on the lawn at work under the pines but the area may have had lawn chemicals in the past so I did not bring any home.

Not a big fan of Slippery Jacks, abit too mushy for me. With many other choice edibles, I pass. The Shaggy Manes this year have been awesome!

2014 we need to start a mushroom and wild edible thread. There are more I want to try. The man who Ids mushrooms for me says the Bear's Head Tooth Mushroom are his favorite.

I have not seen any Shaggys this year. Tried them last year. They were good but delicate. Not the best for frying. Sauteed they were good.

The Shaggies have very abundant here this year, to the point that I've given bunches away.
