Pabst Blue Ribbon

The only domestic I buy at a gas station is Yuengling. I see no reason to punish my taste buds with something like pbr, especially when there are so many different beers out there that are worth finding. Cigar city brewery for example is right down the road from me, they're domestic (local) and awesome, but odds are you won't find them in a gas station.

PBR is pretty good, but I much prefer Hamm's

My college roommate was a big Hamm's fan so I started drinking it too. I haven't drank a beer in probably 20 years, but if I decide to start again I'll probably try to track down some Hamm's

Around here PBR is $1.50 a pint, only thing cheaper on tap is High Life, $1.00 a pint. Olympia(now made by Pabst) has become popular with college crowd.

IIRC, Miller High Life was the first beer I drank. I was about 12 years old. My moms cousin owned his own trucks, and had a contract hauling the stuff.
He kept his trucks at a big shop, and it was the place where all the truck drivers would hang out on the weekends, and drink.
I remember as I got older (16-17) and we found a store that would sell beer to us, we bought MHL. I haven't had one in years. Might have to get a sixer, and see if it is still as I remember it.

It's not, they've changed the recipe. It's awful now.

I just realized that I'm really slacking on my drinking... there's still a PBR in the fridge from my last post  Is it lunchtime yet? :D

I have no business in this thread as I don't drink. But, my Grandfather drank PBR, Schmidts and Schlitz daily and loved them all.

There is a bar/restaurant in Tannersville, PA that has PBR on tap for $1.50 and Wings for a $.25 a piece on Tuesday nights. Or is it Monday nights? Too much PBR!

I find all these "cheap beer is garbage, I only drink craft/micro brew" posts to be hilarious.
I love craft/micro brews but, I'm not paying $10 for a sixer everyday. Get real.
PBR was my beer of choice in my earlier years, cause it was cheap and didn't taste like vomit.
Now, gimme Schlitz or Old Mil.
If I am splashing out on drinks, it'll be Celebrator or Trois Pistoles.

My father drank PBR when I was a kid 1950-1960, and I seem to remember it was considered a premium beer. During the Vietnam war someone was taking kick backs and lots of PBR came to Vietnam, where it was not highly regarded. My last tour I ended up in IV Corps (Mekong Delta) and was initially at Can Tho. They had PBR on sale in the club for .15 cents and all the other beer was .25 cents, and PBR was not being bought. Finally they would only sell PBR trying to get rid of what must have been a lot of beer, and they still could not sell it, the men would go and by Vietnamese Beer LaRue or 33 beer. I left in Jan 72 and there were to be only 300 Americans in all of IV Corps shortly after that, and there must have been a lot of PBR left in warehouses, wonder if the Vietnamese would drink it? John

My wife and daughters play roller derby. The team is sponsored by PBR.

PBR donates huge amounts of it to the team who sell it cheap at events for fundraising. I'm not a big fan of PBR but it flows like water around there so I end up drinking a lot of it.

I had heard this story at the American Legion a couple months back (Dad was a marine) . I am curious if the 33 Beer is related to Rolling Rock and the 33 on their labels?

NonDairy,
Bam e Bam (33) beer had no connection to Rolling Rock. I have had some of those small green bottles and liked it. Beer 33 was an OK beer, but not in the same class by a far margin. Still when it is the only beer you have, you make do. We did not have refrigeration at the old SF camp of Cai Cai up on the Cambodian border and the ice came up the river in sanpans in rice hulks. Put some ice in a glass and then the 33 beer, the ice smelled pretty bad, but what ever was in the 33 beer must have killed off the bad stuff in the ice as I cannot remember having any stomach problems. I don't mind drinking PBR. My two favorite beers are Guinness and Arrogant Bastard.

My older brother had a PBR keg and a good bit of Arrogant Bastard at his Grad party, I didn't quite like the PBR but the Arrogant Bastard was pretty good. I haven't had Guinness though, not much of a beer drinker.

It's funny how things change. I've been a PBR fan for 15 years and everyone I know turns their nose up and asks "how can you drink that crap?. Now I hear all the time that it's making a comeback and they say "you know, it's actually pretty good!". I used to have to drive about 100 miles to get it in a bottle, now it's everywhere.

I make a point of asking for a PBR in every restaurant I go into and so far I have been getting blank stares from the waitress\waiters. The chain places only have the top 12 or so beers available and often can not even tell you what kind of Samuel Adams beer it is that is on tap.

Sam Adams is pretty good. I think I'll have a PBR with dinner tonight. I find it tastes better out of a glass I keep in the freezer.
