This weekend I headed up to my family's condo on the shores of Lake Erie, in Port Clinton, Ohio. I have a 16-foot Zodiac rigid-hull inflatable that I use to cruise around the Portage River, Marblehead, and Catawba with, sometimes tubing and all those other little things a more compact boat is great for.

I wore my life jacket as usual, and inside the left-hand pocket was my Pacific Salt, attached to a lanyard clipped to the collar of the jacket. I wore it all weekend, in or around water for around eight hours each day, and used it to cut a real variety of things, ranging from the cardboard on oil boxes (taking care of the Mercury engine) to cutting stuck bungee cords on the trailer, to cutting my hamburger in half at lunch on the porch of the condo.

There's still no corrosion anywhere on the blade, and no discoloration; several scratches on the blade, which is to be expected with any knife that's used fairly regularly, and the edge is still razor sharp. The Pacific Salt is perhaps the sharpest production knife I've ever received.

A man on his Yamaha Waverunner was tubing with his kid when he unwittingly allowed his jet propulsion system to suck in the cord. All clogged up, he was getting no power and was dead in the water. I anchored my boat and swam over to help (anybody who's familiar with Lake Erie knows that anywhere relatively close to land is twelve feet at its deepest) and cut the cord for him with the Pacific Salt. It has nice "sheeple" characteristics, like the yellow knife handle that makes it look like a medic or fireman's knife instead of a back-alley people slasher. To cut the story short, he and I were able to pull out most of the cord and he could make it back to his buoy in front of his own condo complex. I imagine he burned a couple of gaskets or bearings inside the jet, but we managed to prevent further damage.

After the about six months I've had my Pacific Salt, after jogging, boating, and camping with it, I have nothing but good things to say about the knife. I would like to see a Military in H1 with something like orange G10 scales. I absolutely love my Military but S30V seems to corrode rather easily for me; this would make an excellent jogging, camping, and life vest partner for me. A flat-ground H1 blade, high-visibility G10 handle scales, titanium clip and liner lock, and all the other already great features of the Military would be awesome.

Long story short: buy a Pacific Salt!

God bless you, America, and our men and women overseas.

KATN,

Wade

I had my salt out to cut bunches of weed off my trolling motor. Spend the whole weekend fishing for bass in the slop.

i have been carrying my PE pacific salt clipped inside the gym shorts for the last 2 months or so
so far, despite the soaking wet clothes i get at the end of the workout, the blade has kept its fit & finish, and the lack of steel liners makes for a quick cleaning
i think the pacific salt will become a favourite user/edc for many

Hey, I just got a salt1 last week...I think its perfect for dirty enviroments...running,biking,yard work, etc. I'm putting mine to the test. I love my D4 but it's stay'n home more now that I have the salt.
