pace count

One of the fun parts of teaching navigation in Peru is the people there are really smaller so their pace in general is shorter. So they will teach more like 80 paces for 100 meters which screws things uo a bit for us. That is one of the reasons the nav part of the course is taught by us rather than the Peruvian instructors There are other reasons as well.:)

just on a side note if your out and about w/o your ranger beads, pick up a hand full of pebbles and put then in your shirt pocket. then as you hit your pace count move them to your trouser pockets and then you have make shift beads to help you incase your going long distance and forgot you beads

One of me brothers was an Armorer on Edson Range and used to go out running in the desert all the time. :D

Wow, Edson Range, I've sure put more rounds down range there than I could ever count! That must of kept him busy being an armorer there, that's one of the busiest ranges on the base. One thing I loved was running to the overpass over I-5 down to the beach and doing my running down on the sand n water. I'd run right where the LCAC's are stationed and launch into the ocean. For anyone who's never seen a hovercraft in person taking off it's an awsomely loud sight.

His highlight as a Marine was then Commandant Gray stopping by a couple times. :)
