Pacific blade steels/finishes question

Of the two, I'm really torn between keeping a Pacific with a S35VN blade and the seemingly more durable and really hard (from what I've read) PVD coating, or a Magnacut version with a somewhat softer KG Gunkote finish.

So torn, in fact, I have one of both on the way.

For those of you that have them in either iteraton, how has yours held up?

Am I too traumitized by the report of a Pacific breaking in that infamous knife "test" (was it really just abuse - never saw the video) to trust the S35VN version in real life?

I did some research on the two steels and supposedly Magnacut is 40% "tougher" according to the all-knowing Google, but in real life, how concerned do I really need to be?

I'll just be using it for camping and stuff, not breaking cinder blocks like an idiot with a knife that expensive. I suppose if your content pays you enough to get it kind of for free you could maybe justify it, but I live in the real world where $500 still costs $500.

Thank you for your feedback, much appreciated.

Or, I know, keep them both then report back later how they held up! Oh wait - I'm retired now. DANG IT

Not a Pacific, but I have a 5.5in Green Beret in S35VN that I use hard for yard work. Anything that a machete could be used for. I have cut and hacked sone pretty wild brush and vines with it. There is a very small chip in the edge at present. And some wear to the FDE, but the steel underneath looks great.
