Pacific Cutlery Fake?

I went to the Eastman Gunshow in Marietta, Ga. this weekend. One of the vendors had a 3" or so lockblade with wood handles and "440C Made in Taiwan" on the blade. The black and white box said "Pacific Cutlery" and "Laredo". Quality looked pretty shoddy. Vendor claimed it was a run that Pacific Cutlery had produced in Taiwan. So are these fakes?

No, real. This was their budget line in the 80's. It consisted of 3 or so, traditional lockbacks. They were in the $30-40 range.

Really? I'm surprised. The quality was really bad.
Weird... I've got an authentic PCC Laredo, and it's a sweet knife. Not quite as fine a fit 'n' finish as we've come to expect from Benchmade, but far from shoddy.

I've noticed some knife kits that are nearly identical to the old Laredo pattern; perhaps someone bought a kit or two, and is trying to pass them off as PCC Laredos? Doesn't seem like such a great idea, the real Laredos aren't going for all that much these days...

You wouldn't mind posting a picture of your Laredo would you? I'm not familiar with the model.
