First time running into something like this.
I sold a Busse PD and shipped it priority mail in a brown box on the 16th. Today I get a PM from the buyer saying he got a ebay shipping bag with the shipping label with the tracking number I sent him on it. I am guessing somewhere along the line someone switched labels.
Anything I can do about this?

I would suggest having the buyer take that package into their local post office exactly as it is and see if they can determine anything from the label underneath.

Judging by the price of shipping on the label, I assume you didn't insure the package, so if they're unable to locate it, the best you can hope for is that USPS will reimburse you $57.25 and you will have to refund the buyer the full amount they paid you. Hopefully they're able to locate the missing box, but I think that's unlikely.

I have asked him to do that. I am thinking with no more of and address on it than that the label must have been swapped at his local PO.

USPS should have some record of the weight of the package along the way and be able to determine when the weight changed. That can narrow down their search for the missing box.

I know it is too little to late but ... I am a clear tape freak on packaging. The label, every open edge is covered over.
Hoping you are able to find some help up.

I am too. They will not let you tape over the postage labels.

All I know is that if I can't get this figured out it is going to get hungry around here for a while. Just had to replace my heat-air unit Monday.

Where is the label from the original FleaBay package?
Is it underneath your label?

In any event the label was changed/swaped maliciously. If the FleaBay (original label) is there then someone purposely covered it.
If it is NOT there then that someone removed it and placed yours.

It was NO accident.

PLEASE do not take this the wrong way but... How do you know the buyer?
When water is not flowing thru a hose, you begin at the spigot not the end in your hand.

Ask him to ship you back the package he sent the image of. AS IS

I print the mailing label on regular paper too, at 100%, and apply to my boxes with clear packing tape.
My post office approved the 1st time (years ago) and I have had no issues EVER with clear tape
covering the complete packing label. I even overlap my tape seams a bit. Just sayin'

Good luck with a resolution to your issue.

Yeah, he is a gold member and been here a couple years. I would rather think thief at PO. I may have to have that package for my postmaster.

2 days delivery too.

What's the Tracking # under the visible one?

My thoughts- The Shipping Labels on the 2 packages were damaged in some way. The Post Office remade the labels and accidentally swapped them? If so the other person (eBay buyer) got the Busse PD package. So what's the other Tracking #?

If it's eBay use advanced search to look for that marvelous apparel. I think you get free eBay shipping material with an eBay Store. Maybe you can find the original transaction?

Tracking down the ebay buyer is part of the reason for obtaining the ebay package.

Let's just assume that your "knife" label fell of (OK), and an ever vigilant postal employee scooped it up, slapped it on the first package he/she saw... End of story? Saved the day?

Makes ZERO sense.

Same for tumbling packages in a spinning drum.

Someone removed the label!!!

You will need direct contact with the postmasters at ALL stops/stations along the route.

I tape the crap out of the shipping boxes I send. You never know. Even if you use their priority shipping labels. I had just purchased a slipjoint from CollectorKnives last week and even though they use Priority Flat rate boxes they also seal them in wrap (vacuum sealed). I love that, tells you if someone opened it or not since they always must do that I guess.

Update. Package got there today postage due. After explaining to the mailman he dropped the postage Due and took the other package. After talking with my local po they had never seen anything like that happen but the postage label had fell off and stuck to the other package. Someone at the po looked up the tracking number and wrote the address on it to be delivered leaving the box I sent with no postage label.
From now on I am taking clear tape with me to the po for the postage label.
I have noticed tape and labels not wanting to stick to boxes lately. That's why I use so much tape on them. As sticky as the po labels are I would never have thought they would come off like that.

Hope that is what really happened, though it has a bit of "the dog ate my homework" sound to it. Glad it all worked out, and it it was as they said, kudos to the PO for working to get the package delivered.

Awesome update! I'm really glad that this worked out for you.:thumbsup:
