Packaging knives to ship.

Hey, this is great. You guys are mighty helpful. I've got good ideas flying at me from all directions. Thank you.
 
I feel uneasy when sending out something not packaged adequately.

I do as esantelli suggested.

I get mine from my local carpet installer for free.
I cut them to length on my compound miter saw, cap them with heavy duty corrugated cardboard or pine lumber cut to size and packing tape.

I also sheath the knife in heavy cardboard or plywood, if no sheath is available, and wrap that in bubble wrap.

I have been shipping all my knives this way for over 8 years and am very happy with it.
