Packerrat reached out to me thru a PM that he had one,and wanted to know if I was interested. I had searched the internet and could only find 1 new one on Amazon at the unbelievably high price of $249, and also 1 “used” knife here on BF offered in a trade-
I passed on both of those offers.
Then in came the PM from Packerrat about his knife. He shipped me his knife-New in box, & unused, without asking for payment! Then in another PM he told me to not worry about the shipping, it was not that much...
I was and am floored by this act of generousity and cannot thank him enough!
I will figure out a way to properly show him my gratefulness for this...
Being a US Army & combat Veteran of 11.5 years, in the past given away (to other Veterans) my
KA BAR’s & Phrobus blades, bayonets and Buck knives, it feels great to own a KA BAR again!
Thank you Packerrat! You are a great person to know, & restored some of my faith in todays crazy world!
If you need ANYTHING, let me know Sir!

Thanks for the exceptionally kind words, Mike. The real generosity and thanks for that blade should be attributed to @Spark and BK-KaBar. that knife is from a BF giveaway last winter. I picked up another user to fill its spot, so it never hit rotation. Sorry it sat so long, but glad it found its way back to the BF community with you. Sounds like you are gonna give it a heckuva workout.

Thank you for your service, sacrifice, and integrity. You have helped forge the liberty my family enjoys every day.
Merry Christmas and Happy Hollidays, All

Thank you Sir!
I am still blown away by your kind act of generousity! I am immensly enjoying owning the BK5 and have just now stropped it to a mirror edge finish after using it last night & this morning to cut up more elk meat. I have a set of new tan micarta scales arriving Friday for it ;)
I have an idea of something (bladed) I am going to send back over to you & hoping in the next few weeks to get it off in the mail.
Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to you and your family!
If you need anything, just holler at me!

Packerrat is one of those genuinely good guys (great actually!). I have my own story:

Those of you who know of Nathan the Machinist works, aka Carothers Performance Knives with the acronym CPK, know that Nathan's knives are hard to come by and very sight after in the secondary market. Many moons ago PR scored a now retired pattern by the name Light Chopper (LC) but in the much more limited edition made from CPM-4V. IIRC, Nathan only did 25 of those! When he received it, he really agonized over keeping it because it was just so darn nice and he told me via PMs (I hang around in Nathan's subforum by quite a lot!). Anyway, he had asked my opinion about it and I decidedly advised PR to keep it if he could because it was so rare.

Sadly after a while of torturing himself over this, he decided to let it go for a little bit of loss and the shocking thing being that if you are familiar with Nathan's work, one does not tend to lose $ on his patterns if one's lucky enough to score them directly from Nathan, specially on a very limited offering! The moral of the story being that this forumite Packerrat is not one of those around here for the $ and he's genuinely a very charitable person as evident by the OP.

Good on both of you two, I sayz.
