Packing a Punch!!!

Thanks for your opinions and the cool old catalog photos, Pete and Jake.:) I'm sure I'd prefer the clip, sheepsfoot, punch version if given a choice. I have a Schrade USA 93OT with clip and sheepsfoot that I enjoy; Buzzbait's first photo actually had me thinking, "Hey that reminds me of a 93OT with a punch; cool!"

A punch is a good tool to have at hand, no question.

I remember several years ago our fellow forum member Pete made a thread to compare some punches. IIRC the Victorinox ones used to be the most useful in case of making holes into wood. I would also recommend the Victorinox Electrician as a great tool to carry around with sporting a punch (awl), sheepfoot blade and a spear mainblade - and a bottle opener ;)
Not as nice looking as the traditional ones made in the US, but still a nice pattern.

Schrade actually made that knife....it's an 899. I have only ever seen them in jigged delrin but they are mighty nice. They come up routinely on that auction site.

I like the punch, though I've never used them for their intended purpose. A punch makes a handy scraper, as using an actual blade for that task is anathema to me. My favorite punch-included pattern is the harness jack as I much prefer single blade knives for my usual carry. I don't need more than one blade for everyday usage, and I don't want any extras other than the punch.

Thanks! I know the mountains of Virginia are childs play to real Northerners, but I have never owned or used a snowshovel in my life!
