Packing...

Either way, it sounds like you are definitely going to be prepared! Have fun on your trip! Post some pics when you arrive home safely

LOL :D The "gear freak's curse" .... choices! choices!

My own dilemma was solved some time back - went for a Basic 9 and a Spyderco Paramilitary on belt kit - small SAK office manager for key chain - Custom Zilla for the Bergan.

Then I had to keep this a secret from the other knives! If they new I had favourites

Hey Peter....long time no see..!!!!!!

It is truly a curse, *if* I was hunting/living from my pack the choices would be MUCH simpler (my dwaf like frame can only carry so much), as I have my 'Cruiser and trailer to get there and the "Zombie Express" to get right into the back country on (and a lovley hut to sleep in) the weight is not such an issue (thought I think the kife bag may result in me needing to add a few esxtra psi to the air bags in the back springs of the truck ;) ;) Then there is ammunition..... I think I BATAC slipped into the mix when I was not looking last night as well... ;)

More than enough....a few at around $4 per round....hopefully the load on the way home is a little lighter... ;)

Hi Andy - it has been a while since I was last on the forum - working away too much! I try to travel light and usually this means only one laptop and that has to be the "work" one. This restricts me on the internet and I cannot access this site. Back at home now - so all is good!

If you are using up some .375 bonded core big game bullets on these Hogs ( $4.00 a pop sounds like it ) - be interesting to see if they dropped them better than the .308.

I use a .375 Cheytac with 350g Sierra Matchkings for distance work and the same bullet in the .375 H&H Sauer 202 takedown for closer work. It is not a restricted military calibre so works well for transporting anywhere worldwide. The SMK is a target round so breaks up completely in terms of the outer jacket - not good for hunting animals on 4 legs - superb for other uses.

I always have a few rounds though for Dangerous Game with me in Africa. Normally Barnes bullets just in case. The Barnes "solids" though go through everything I need to if shot through the Cheytac. Bronze alloy CNC custom solids are even better and go much further. Needle points on those things! Too expensive though to practise/load develop for the most part. The SMKs go out past a mile which is far enough.

Big fan of the .375!

375 is awesome, love my model 70! Had it for years and never let me down, easy to shoot, breeze to load for and hits like a freight train. Oh yeah love some .375 goodness.

These ones...

... ;) They are to be my Cape Buffalo loads later in the year so I will bust some hogs and deer with them in the meantime.. ;)

You must be going after some seriously BIG hogs with that round!!!! Or are you just trying to blow them up and not have anything left to eat!!!!;)

I think that Andy views the hogs more as pests (?)..... Dog meat, at best..... Ammo test bed as an added bonus.

Next to NO chance of me eating a feral hog out here, they carry way to many nasties for my liking. Though I will most probably bring some of one or two back with me this trip all being well.... ;)

And hogs, like rabbits, make great practice with the big rifle... :) :)

Trying to decide what to bring with me as well... There will be fireplace to feed...
So far RMD, B10 & SarQ made the cut, Choppy and Swamp Warden will be in my pack, LMS for opening stuff and kitchen duty.
ASHBM? NMFSH? Ratweiler? 911? 711? TGLB? Choices...

I learned something. Didn't know you couldn't eat the wild pigs from Australia. I've never hunted them, but my brother has in Texas and had one for Thanksgiving dinner a year back instead of turkey. He said it was great eating.:)
