Well guys, as I hoped, the niece bagged her an 8pt. It went 15 3/4 inside so was a pretty good rack. Sorry the rack doesn't show up all that great. I guess the focus was on her. She has her own little Winchester .243.
Couldn't get her on the knife out in the field, but she got right into the packaging part back at the house.
Her Dad used a two dot 110 and a newer 2007 110 in the field and processing it.
Unfortunately, this may be my last deer camp report for a while. While they were processing their meat yesterday, I snuck off to look for hogs. Unfortunately there was a rotted board on one of the stand steps and I went through it and down on the previous step right across the lower back. Then as I fell on through the hole I must have hit my sternum on something on the way down.
Managed to get back to the truck ok and am pretty sore in places. The scope on the rifle has step paint on it so I will have to shoot it some to see if I did it damage. It was slung across my back when I went down.
I think this one really bad sore spot on the left side of my back may be from the butt of the gun.
I am really ticked off about it. That is one of the older stands so I am considering just taking it on down and doing something different. That was the last stand that we were scheduled to rebuild the steps on.
I am just glad it wasn't someone else.
Anywho... looks like I am grounded till I can move around without all this pain.
This deer hunting gig can be a lot of work... But seeing the kids have fun is priceless.
