Packrat

"The thumbstuds are useless."

Which is why Ken doesn't make knives with thumbstuds anymore. Unless it's a studlock.

Hey All, I just got mine in today and have been playing around with it :D. WHAT A "ROCK SOLID" knife this is!!! My only complaint is the lack of jimping, but the G10 gives it plenty of grip.

PLEASE Don't think bad of me for saying this ... I disengaged the AO mechanism. The reason is I'll be using this while On-Duty. I had an AO open in my pocket during a foot pursuit . Fortunate for me the blade just went through my BDUs rather than my leg. BTW, the knife at that time was an Avalanche.

The blade on the Pack Rat works just fine for me ... I just push the flipper and the thumb pushes the rest of the way open to hear that solid locking sound ;). Overall, I Really Like This Knife. Can't wait to see how it does in the field. Take Good Care All and Be Safe Always.

God Bless :)

Yeah, but using the hole where the studs used to be you can now perform a "Spyder-drop"!
I see what you are getting at here. It is pure genius. You get around the legal issues of both the spyder drop (centrifugal force- gravity knife laws) and Speedsafe ("auto" like knife laws) by spyder dropping a Speedsafe knife. You are definitely not applying pressure anywhere near the handle, and the torsion bar is opening the knife not centrifugal force. I find this to be the perfect political solution to both problems....... it embraces both possibilities, perverts them beyond all belief and leaves you with a completely legal solution that may lop off a finger. ;):D

I like mine!! Very nice. And the Zing is an awesome knife as well.
Both will make great EDC's. Anyone thinking about getting either,
don't think, just get it......well, get BOTH!!

Thank you Dustin,
That's exactly what I was gettin' at:thumbup::D

If you set your knives to tip up, right hand pocket, they won't open up. I know the feeling of having a knife opening when running... scared the crap outta me. Let us know how it holds up to duty use!

Hey knivesandguns, Will Do ...I put my knives through quite the workouts while on duty. Have tested several for DAYWALKER and getting ready to test one for GTC Knives (custom job). I will keep you updated on how it holds up ...it would be a pleasure. Plan on getting another.

What makes this knife so special for me, is the fact my LOVELY GIRLFRIEND got it for me;). She is quite the knife enthusiast herself ...You ought to see her open a knife and hold it in reverse grip. She can invert a knife and open it with her ring finger and she also knows how to do inertia openings ...YES SHE'S WAY HOT :D!!! Take Good Care and Be Safe Always

God Bless :)

Sounds like you got yourself a keeper!

You going to grab a ZT anytime soon for duty?

I'll probably wait until the small version of the ZT 0300 is out :cool:. I thought about getting the MUDD, but I have issues with the weight. I carry enough gear as it is and try not to be weighted down. Of course IT'S AN EXCELLENT OPTION FOR THE TACTICAL TEAM I'M ON!!!

BTW, My girlfriend had already opened up the Packrat and was playing with it before I got it  :p.

God Bless :)

I would buy one, but with texas going after assisted opening knives im feeling like this may be the shape of things to come.

Texas isn't going after AO knives. One incorrect judicial ruling doesn't make it a law.

If im not mistaken there has been a whole bunch of bad legal judgements comming from everywhere as of late.
