I just got to see my first one.
I love it. Now I have to buy one.
The Kershaw PackRat KS1665.

I really like the liner lock. It holds very well. The flipper is right above it when open.
The G-10 is very nice. The screws on the front side scales have nuts on the backside to hold the back side scales on. Wonderful idea.
The blade is... well... its... cool. I just can't describe it.
The curve on the spine of the handle fits my thumb perfectly. I can get a good grip on it. The flipper, when open, rests on top of my index finger which adds to the grip. This might be the one to replace my Mini Cyclone.

Kershaw has hit another one right out of the park on this one.

Go out and find you a kershaw that is not to expensive, like the Junkyard dog 1720, or a leek. Use it, EDC it, and play with it for a couple of weeks, and then you will say; Holy crap if I can get this good of a knife for less than 40 bucks I wonder what their higher dollar knives have to offer.

Short, easy to understand summary is, Kershaw has amazing knife quality for an affordable price.

This thread is worthless without pics. :D

Preferably some "in hand" picks JW. I wanna see how that rear palm swell fits the hand.

...Or I can wait a couple days for Priority Mail to do its thing :)

I like this design so much ... I bought 2 . Anyone That Has The Opportunity To Handle or Buy One, Please DO SO!!! You Won't Be Disappointed ...Guaranteed.

This Knife is BOMB Proof and has one of the strongest liner locks I've seen. I've used this knife while On-Duty and have used it to cut open boxes, envelopes, tape, rope/twine, leather, hose, surgical tubing, clothing, and a seatbelt. Easy to sharpen and keeps an edge . BTW, it's also easy to manipulate for different grips in a SD situation ...if need be ;). Let mention this little characteristic I've noticed about the design ...because the butt end of the handle is so rounded, it can be used as an impact weapon or to break a window if necessary. I don't see a problem with it being damaged due to the G10 handles and the solid stainless steel liners, which are fairly thick.

Just my Take On This AWESOME Little Packrat that keeps coming back for more. Truly An Amazing Design ... I might have to get another :p. Take Good Care All and Be Safe Always.

God Bless :)

I will do my best on the pics.
It is hard to hold a Kershaw in one hand and remember what the other one is doing.

Just got my Pack Rat.

It's just a tad smaller than I expected, but awesome nonetheless.

I would suggest everyone go out and get one, it's the best I've seen from Kershaw since the Shallot showed up.

I saw someone's PackRat picture next to a Zing just before I placed my order. I almost changed my mind (but I love my new Zing!). That PackRat is sweet looking though. I'd like to see some in hand shots as well!

I am trying. The batteries for my camera are dead... and I can't find my charger.
It was a long week. I will get them taken tomorrow.

Hey Ktint, I can see the detent ball on the liner and the hole in the blade. Hopefully someone will chime in that knows for sure ;).

I disengaged the AO mechanism on mine, but I carry mine "tip-up" and with the blade close to the seam of my pocket. It doesn't move or hasn't opened on me ...also tightened up the pivot a bit. Take Good Care and Be Safe Always.

God Bless :)

I don't see a detent on my Pack Rat...the liner doesnt move once the ball starts riding on the blade. I haven't torn it down, but I seriously doubt there is a detent.

Glad you are carrying it tip-up, Rook. It's how they're meant to be carried :D

Hi J_Curd, Your Correct Sir and My apologies ;). There isn't a detent. After closer inspection, the only thing I notice is that there is a "triangular" shape cutout on the locking side of the liner. Thank You for the "Heads Up".
