Paging Mr. Ethan Becker... Joy of Cooking question

The stove is at the end of the island, to the left of the sink.

Ok. Hint: Look at the relation of the counter to the dishwasher.

Is there some kind of storage drawer under the dish washer? Definitely have never seen one installed that high off the floor.

If it's a standard sized dish washer, then that indicates that your microwave may be from the 1980s, as it appears to be as wide as the dishwasher. Those things are huge. I still have 2 working ones from back then.

The only other things I see are that whoever installed the hardware on the doors above the microwave installed the knobs slightly unevenly and your all black refrigerator is incongruous with the stainless steel dishwasher and microwave, like a man picked them out. Women tend to want everything to match whereas guys usually just want them to work.

So, no bending over to load?

EXACTLY! Give that man a cigar. The refrigerator is also lifted, although not as much. We prefer bottom freezers, not sure I'd do it for a top freezer, although lifting a full length side by side works too.

There is a drawer under the dishwasher. The microwave is actually new. It's a Panasonic and is about as large as they come. We like the mix of stainless and black.

One other feature I will mention for the cast iron folks out there. Granite composite sink. We use a lot of cast iron and a stainless sink that will hold up to them is really really expensive. This granite composite is the bomb! Hasn't scratched or chipped in 10 years. I've accidentally dropped heavy skillets, among other miscues that would have killed other sinks. This one still looks great. Home Depot and Lowes both have them, although different styles.

Please forgive me if I threadjacked.

I've had one of these JofC cookboks since the '90's.
My wife had a '70's or so version.

We recently moved in with my FIL, and discovered a seriously old version. I don't think the name Becker was even on it.
I'll have to dig it up again. Maybe post a picture. Obviously, if not, it didn't happen.

Finally found the classic one again. Authored by Rombauer and Becker. Blue hardcover - looks like Bootzon's.
Perhaps slightly cleaner.
Last published in 1953 - hardly classified as old. Looks like it was a wedding gift to my M-i-L in 1960.

If I remember correctly, a new version should be released soon.

My wife uses that cook book a lot. I told her that ethan is a designer. She said if he made cooking knives she would buy them
