... yes folks, when the Doctor says "this procedure may be uncomfortable" BE ALARMED.... !!!:eek::eek::eek:

Can I tell you there is a woman here in Sydney still trying to explain to her young daughter why the man went in with the doctor and a little while later was calling for his pet DUCK !!!:foot:

:D before the appointment yesterday I had an conversation with one of my closest friends, she runs the front of a specialist medical practice, when I told her what I was getting done I recall her saying something about taking something to bite on....:eek: :foot: And I thought she was kidding !!!!!

So before this spirals to far to the gutter.... I was having a Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injection into my Achilles Tendon, basically they draw a number of vials of blood from me, spin that down in a centrifuge and then once the blood has separated they draw up the plasma and inject it back into the target site. As I said the description at the start was uncomfortable....!!!! That was like saying a smack across the nose with a baseball bat may smart a little.... ;) And the best bit.... I am having it done twice more, as I said, "it is like parachuting Doc, the first jump is not the hardest, it is the second one that sorts the men from the boys" .... ;)

It is still hurting like crazy today, well, a dull constant throbbing that should subside by tomorrow...

OK...going back to sanding the sharp bits off the Lego now...... :D

Had to have cortisone injections thru the bottom of my foot for plantar fasciitis. Most painful thing I've ever been thru. I new it was bad when the doctor asked the nurse to hold me...

Andy,
I learned years ago to make pain my friend.
I know that sounds crazy, but after you have been through some of the stuff I have , you learn that pain is almost a constant companion and none of us are getting any younger!
So Might as well be friends or at least learn to tolerate pain like a no good relative you are stuck with! LOL

Good luck on those injections. I hope they help you.

I'm no stranger to pain, in 53 years I've broke both ankles, one of them twice, broke all the bones in my right hand, both my thumbs, both my pointer fingers, put a screwdriver through the middle of my left hand, knee replacement, torn rotator cuff surgery, sawed the pointer finger of my right hand right through the middle of the finger and nail with a band saw to the first knuckle, (learned to use a push stick after that), more stitches than I can possibly remember and the worst pain of all, was trying to pass a 14mm kidney stone for over a month, (they had to go in and get it and it only comes out one way:eek:).

Oh yea when I was a kid I used to get cluster headaches, so bad I would beat my head against the wall in my bedroom as a distraction and in hopes that I would knock myself out.

broken ribs, piece of a wire wheel got stuck in my eye, I remember jumping off the neighbors roof w with a hefty trash bag for a parachute, when I hit the ground from two storys up I'll never forget my Old Man's words as he picked me up and took me to the DR, "0 to idiot in less than 2 seconds"

Yes I'm no stranger to pain but if you focus and have the right combo of pain killers you can tolerate the pain for the most part. Chronic pain is the worst though, day after day with no relief, when I blew my left knee out in '06 I had to work for 10 s weeks just till I could get surgery and accrued enough time off to recover.

Had the platelet shots, cortisone shots in the knees, ankles, shoulders and wrist.

Anticipation is the worst I'd rather have them just do whatever it is they're gonna do without me knowin' when. Funny thing, with all they painful crap I've had and had done to me is the needles that skeeve me and scare me the most.

At 53 I feel like a 90 year old whose been kicked down 3 flights of stairs when I get up in the morning but it all works out by the time I get my first cup of coffee down and stretch out all the kinks.

Wow Ted man I am a lot less sore and feel really lucky after reading that. Thanks.
Good luck with the ankle, Andy!

Andy, for all the pain I've had usually when doctors caused it, the long term benefits were well worth the short time discomfort.

Best of luck.

That is gun in mouth pain and that is no bull! I grew into them at about 20 and out of them about 35. 2-3 cycles per year, each lasting 60-90 days, with about 6- hour or two long episodes, per 24 hour period. I suffered with that for 15 years, dreaded the thought of the next cycle and never knew when it would start.
The last time I had them was the worst. I had oxygen bottles of all shapes and sizes at home for years. Big bottles for home, smaller for traveling or away from home and the mini's.
Cluster Headaches are a living hell.
