Paint Stripping Question

I have a RMD and was thinking of stripping it but now im wondering is there a layer of Decarb under the paint like on a Busse blade?
 
i have stripped a rodent waki and a S5CG and i havent seen any. The metal was a dark gray, but it only took about a minute with a scotchbrite spongesanding block to get clean metal.
 
I just got finished stripping my Ratmandu and mine had another layer underneath the coating. It was easy enough to give it a hand-rubbed scoth-brite finish though. Honestly, it looks like a satin finish now. I'll be back with pics...
 
Here's what mines looks like now...used it for a while cutting in the kitchen so it has developed some patina on one side that may or may not be visible in the pics.
