Paint

Welcome to Bladeforums!

Your picture didn't post.
Your gmail didn't either.

Could you explain the problem here, in words, please.

The picture shows on my screen? The heck? Anyways the paint on the blade has started to sorta come off. Like when you say drop your phone and you can see the metal, but in this case, I have never dropped my knife before and i can see the metal underneath the paint. I'm not sure how to fix it. :L

You'll need to upload the picture to a photohosting site (Imgur, Photobucket etc) then copy and paste the IMG link provided into your post. That'll do the trick.

What kind of knife is it?

Some knives have more durable coating than others which will hold better with use. The Cold Steel American Lawman I had had a very poor coating. Cut anything and it would make a scratch. The Ontario Rat 1's coating was a little better but still came off fairly easy with use. I eventually sanded both of the coatings off and like them better that way.

Emerson has a pretty decent coating they put on but I feel that the DLC coating that Spyderco and ZT uses (don't know if they're the same or just very similar) and very durable.

So in essence, there's not much you can do but let it happen. Some people like the worn look as it adds character.

If you want to recoat the blade, look into duracoat or something similar.

It's a tanto blade that I got from the States. It's made my Maxam, it's really cheap, but it works really well for me (Updated the pictures problem)

Now that we know what the question is, I moved this to the General Knife Discussion.

Really, with inexpensive knives, the coating just isn't likely to be durable at all.

You can't fix it. But if you stop using the knife, that will prevent any more coating from coming oiff.

If it bothers you, just apply some black acrylic paint. I personally think that peeled coating shows the knife has been used. It gives it personality.

Any kind of blade with coating wth use will come off soon or later.
Cheaper coating comes off faster.

Coatings on knife blades are not created equal. Some are more durable than others, and they serve different purposes. Some coatings are designed to prevent reflected light, others to try and inhibit rust, others to hide sloppy and gross looking machine/grinding marks. As far as fixing it, keep using the knife until the coating is all gone or strip it yourself to show the bare metal.
